I think so Daniel , but as i said they used to change every v8 and 6s cambelt that came in from Japan so they got very clued up on Soarers. I will get a price for v8s today.

Took me 20minutes to bolt up the alternator, clip up the electrics and weave on the belt. It's not a tough job. A second set of hands can save you a bit of time too, holding the belt in place on one side while you pull the tensioner pulley..

Think you might be confused Aiden. That would be the serpentine belt. That has to come off too to do the timing (cam) belt. If you know what you're doing it could be done in a couple of hours, depends on how hard it is to crack the harmonic balancer bolt. Took me most of a day to do it the first time.
Well worth doing the water pump at the same time, as the timing belt has to come off to change the water pump. Only cost an extra $150 - $200ish for the water pump.

TT's eat spark plugs!
In the TT I'm lucky to get more than 5000km out of copper plugs before it starts spitting and coughing under load. I change them every time I do an oil change. I recently put some iridiums in and they're lasting, and sparking, heaps better.
Not so bad in non-turbos.

All this talk of spark plugs. I have not yet changed mine, nor had a problem with misfire or anything, and have done 3 services so far - coming up to 4 - so about 20,000km. I haven't checked to see what they are yet, but doesn't seem like its much of an issue??
Wouldn't something be not right if even standard plugs last only 5000km?
Haha I never changed the plugs on my VT V6 commodore for 60,000km - never became an issue - every time I checked them they were clean as
Thankfully one of the previous owners of my car did the 100,000km service and stuck a sticker on the cam gear cover saying it was done at 103,200 in 2006 so I've got a fair while to go before that needs doing again, but the serpentine belt doesn't look like it was done, considering it is full of cracks. Naughty naughty!
