hi there, i have been searching around for ages about turbos and to help me decide what turbo to go for. so far i have seen a couple of soarers with a garrett gt3076r turbo. the question is that is turbo any good for the 1jzgte and how much lag would there be compared to the standard turbos.
i aim aiming at around 450hp. at the moment i have hks 264 cams, apexi power fc ecu, greddy adjustable cam gears.

price is not a problem yet. i really want something that is not laggy and want the power to be right through the rev range. i always thought the gt35r is a big turbo for the 1jz.

I am running a 30/37r .82 aka 30/71-76r with 370hp @ 20psi.. Full boost is around the 3800rpm.
To get to 450hp.. The 30/76r will get there but at its full potential.. Even though it's said to be able to get to 450-500ps,In real life it won't.. If I was to do it again Id go straight to a 35/40.. .82 rear comp.. This is the best and most responsive turbo you will get to be able to reach the 450hp with ease @ 19psi.. My brother's r33 has this setup and hit 338kw's/453hp @ 19psi on pump fuel.. With 264 lift cam on the exhaust and 254(not sure on the numbers it's 25? something) on the intake.. I's your car auto or manual.. Just bare in mind also that getting to this power level the auto will have to be either rebuilt or go manual... Also to the forum..

the 3076 with the .82 housing will be ideal for your power requirements. the rear housing flows virtually the same as the .63 housing on the gt35R. you will have power everywhere.spool will be good, provided turbo manifold is of a suitable design.

I've seen a ca18 with stock rods and piston pump out 430rwhp with a gt30 at 30psi. It's doable on a 1jz for sure, not sure how long the motor will hold up though. If money is no object I'm sure it could be built to take it. That being said I'd go GT35r, I'm making 440rwhp with my 1.5j at 15 psi. Can't wait to crank the boost up in a few months.

I was assuming the 450hp was engine power, not rear wheel power. if you want 450hp at the rear wheels, the GT30 will need pushing v. hard. better to go for one size up.

Try the Garret GT3082R very responsive and big step up from the GT3076R.More fuel+ Air=more power. Also remember to add supporting mods to reach full potential of turbo.etc bigger Fuel injectors, fuel pump and regulator, ecu and so on.

well so far i have at the moment hks 264 cams, apexi power fc stand alone ecu, greddy cam gears going to buy some 650cc sard injectors. all i need to decide now is what turbo im going to go with. i am looking at 450 bhp at the engine not at whees. so i was thinking gt3076r 0.82 housing with a external waste gate.
any other recommendations. any dynos for gt35r turbo or the gt3076r turbo thanks for all the input guys

Ben Burgess made over 400rwhp with stock cams and a GT3076R with 0.8 rear housing . Was done with a very quiet exhaust, consisting of 2 mufflers and 2 resonators and a cat as well .
If your looking at 450hp @ flywheel, your looking at about 340-350rwhp mate . The Gt3076r will sh1t that in with 0.8 housing . You will only need 440 injectors to reach that power level , but you could go with some 550's if need be .

driftworks silvia 1jz gte is kicking out 550bhp and 557 pounds of torque with a gt3076r and hks 264 cams and 800 cc injectors. im thinking to go with gt3076r with 0.8 rear housing and get 650cc injectors.
