Hi, was wondering if any one has ever determined pitch and type of thread on the timing belt tensioner pulley. I kinda lost the nut.......its different to every nut I have removed off the car. I assume its a UNF thread but am not too sure...see pic.

I don't think there are any UNF threads on Toyota motors, it'll definitely be metric.
I managed to strip my accessory belt tensioner bearing bolt last night Don't know what to do now. Will try some kind of repair later on this morning. The tensioner is fine so buggered if I'm paying $600 for a new one.

Thanks for this will try and get one this morning, 600 for a tensioner sounds a bit rough, you might be able to get a good second hand one, one of my mates Michael Keen from Turbo Tune has a stack of 1jz engines around and may have a good second hand one. Try him at the workshop if you get a chance his number is 08 8297 1030. Just tell him James suggested that you might have one. He will be able to post it out to you.

Yeah, new tensioners are just silly prices.
Its OK though, I managed to fix it in the end. Took it off and put a new bolt through the back of it, just cleared the timing belt cover so turned out to be a pretty easy fix. Put a 50mm bolt through so I could put two nuts on the other end to allow me to lock it off and get the new v-belt on. Bodgy as hell but works perfectly - only just clears the fan though!
I might see if I can get a replacement second hand at some stage but it should last the distance I think.
