No overheating issues just preventative maintenence.. okay I'm just bored haha
I've got my coolant draining out from the radiator tap now, and plan to jam a garden hose in the pipe from the heater to the block and run it until clean water comes out to radiator.
Drain tap water and fill up with Toyota red and distilled water.
Is this okay? Or do I need to remove the thermostat? Oh and what's the best method to ensure there is no air in the system?

Remove top rear heater hose, and re fill with coolant until it comes out top heater hose at back of engine. You must fill it until it reaches highest point in cooling system(as not to get an air lock). If you take off serpentine belt and drop altenator you should be able to change thermostat??(I think)Good luck and have fun!

done! easy as! I started stressing out as it only took about 3 liters in the top of the radiator and the heater was dead cold even though the temp gauge read half way, then slowly the levels started dropping so kept topping it up I think it took about 8 liters or so all up
