Recently sprung a water leak from one of the heater hoses, the one at the back of the engine Wondering if there are kits available to replace some/all the water hoses with maybe better quality ones? silicon?

Depending on which heater hose has a sprung a leak, generic heater hose will be no good as it will need to be bent, and bending it too much will kink it. You're best to work out which hose is leaking, get on the ToyoDIY website to find the part number and contact a Toyota dealer for the hose. I replaced the one that comes out the back of the engine and it cost $69.

Call a couple of dealerships for a price, I was able to get mine for $15 less than the first place I called. Also there is nothing like a factory hose. They just fit as they should the first time. I think that are work spending the couple of extra dollars, and knowing that it is going to be right for the next 15 years.

What Daniel said, its a pain in the arse to replace so do it once and do it right. $80 isn't much to pay if it lasts for another 17 years.
Using a Unicoil to bend the heater hose is all well and good until you put the hose through hundreds of heat up/cool down cycles (and you all know how hot our cars get under the bonnet), from memory 3/4 inch generic heater hose is needed to fit the water outlet on the engine and the heater tap. This stuff is really stiff and doesn't bend easily, so theres always the risk of it developing cracks and weak spots where it bends.
