To anyone that has t3gs, what did you do about heat shielding them as the standard heat shield doesn't fit, do you have to get one custom made or is the kit supposed to come with one?

sebastian ; Mate the standard one will fit with some cutting for the oil lines. normaly there were some steel brackets that bolted to the turbo housings that matched up to the holes in the stock heat shield.

I still have the brackets but nothing lined up for me, I guess I must have the brackets mounted incorrectly but as long as I know now that I don't need to get one custom made is the main thing.
Does anyone have any photos of these being installed or fully installed?

1. I used the stock shield, I used a grinder to cut two square chunks out on the top side so as to allow the oil and water lines passage, mine only came with the tart braket so I only have one bolt holding it on.
2. From memory they released a variation of the T3G kit for the TT 300zx
make sure you get your turbos and manifolds made flat as both of mine are wonky and have spat T3 gaskets.

My car won't be on the road for a while as I have a long list of mods to complete and I'm still working out what I want my mechanic to do and what I can do myself.
The only difference I have seen is with the actuator, some a dual port while mine are single.
Mark, what do you mean by making the turbos made flat? I understand the manifolds but what can you do to the turbos?

Too easy mate. I think Muzzy had some beenies set up on his old T3G setup. Be warned though, they can be expensive new and are a bit of a pain in the ass to mount due to the serious lack of room down there !
Good luck though, i had a beenie on my T66 and a wrapped dump - it made such a difference to under bonnet temps

What are your thoughts on using both a heat shield and a turbo beenie? I've already ordered the beenies but my mate said that having the beenie under the heat shield will trap moisture in, I personally don't see what the difference is. If beenies trap in moisture then they would do so wether or not the heat shield is there. I will definately be keeping the heat shield as I want it to look as stock as possible. What are your thoughts?

A mate of mine bought some silicone sandwitched in between aluminium sheet, it's bought in lengths and its easily cut and moulded to fit around the turbos. It's the same stuff that factory XR6t manifolds are wrapped in. Cheap too! I think 1.5m x.5m was about $60

Looks like the heat shield doesn't fit at all. I will be modifying the heat shield to cover the dump and have the beenies over the turbos. Not ideal but there seems to be no way around it.
