Drove through a decent puddle in the CBD yesterday and my engine just died. Got it towed back home and found out the I had water which had been sucked through the intake into the motor.

Anyway, after removing the plugs and drying as much of the water out of the cylinders and the intercooler I eventually got the car started. Luckily it still runs smoothly without any knocks.

The only problem I have is that it idles at 2000rpm even after it has warmed up.

There was water in the intake manifold but Im not sure what the water could have got to which would affect the idle.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Could be water affecting either the AFM or the IAC hopefully it will dry out.

Omar, did you have both engine undertrays fitted at the time?

Yes Peter, but I had the intake/pod relocated so it was just behind the front bumper behind the fog lights so it could suck in fresh air but instead it sucked in fresh water.

I sprayed WD40 into the ICV and now the car idles at 2000rpm then drops straight to 1000rpm then goes up to 2000rpm consistently.

I'm hopeful the problem will sort itself out after a few long drives.

Car still has an erratic idle. Removed the plug to the ICV and it didn't affect anything idle still jumped up and down, up and down. Removed the plug at the front of the throttle body and the revs just jumped up to 3000rpm and stayed there. Anyone have any ideas.

I also hear a funny sound under high boost. It sounds like when someone presses there lips really tight together and tries to blow air out of there mouth. (hope someone knows what I mean).

Yeah tighten the hose clamps on your intercooler piping, mine does that before it pops off

I just tightened all the clamps and took it for a test drive and still the same issue. I noticed that under slight acceleration and with the rpm around 2000-2500 I could hear from the engine bay a tss..tss..tss..tss..tss..tss..tss sound as if I had let off the accelerator. Could the stock bov be leaking?

It's possible you have a small crack. Got a fmic? Maybe it was hot and the sudden splash of water cracked a weak weld. I like to use a smoke machine to check for exhaust leaks but you're gonna need some pressure.

Omar, mine does the tss tss tss tss thing under light acceleration then letting off the throttle aswell. I have removed the stock BOV, I think it's just light compressor surge.
Under heavy acceleration it's more of a WAAAAPSSHHHH! haha

I wouldn't worry about that noise mate!

Have you tried to run the diagnostics?

I checked all the intercooler piping and everything was fine. Haven't run diagnostics yet. At idle the rpm still goes from 2200rpm to 1000rpm then back up to 2200rpm. I also noticed when I touch the accelerator pedal lightly the idle jumps 1000rpm rather then going up gradually. Going to remove the ICV tomorrow and giving it another clean. If anyone has any other ideas in the meantime please let me know. Thanks

Ran diagnostics and no errors came up. Cleaned the ICV again, this time with contact cleaner and still no result.

Anyone got a working ICV or TPS that I can borrow for a day or two to help me isolate the problem. Any other ideas would be great.

Took the car for a long hard drive and it sorted itself out. I think there was some water remaining somewhere in the system which eventually dried up.
