hi everyone

trying to sort out a studder/vibration in my soarer this arvo and in doing so i took off the exhaust pipe with the cat attached to it

just after the cat there is a sensor, very similar to what an oxygen sensor looks like except longer, its only 2 wire (black and white) the normal 02 sensor is still located up near the dumps

what is this sensor? also pulling it out of its housing it actually become damaged, seems i tiny part of it had fused to the housing pipe and ripped a small chunk off the sensor its self. any idea's on what it is so i can try and replace it? am i right in assuming its just another o2 sensor for after the cat?

car is completely stock Twin turbo non vvti 1992 soarer.

This is a temperature sensor. When abnormal temperature is detected, a light will appear on your dash to let you know that your catalytic converter has failed, or if the exhaust wheel blades from your turbochargers have made their way down there.

thanks boris.

glad its not something critical then. have to track down a 2nd hand one.

does it send any feed back to the ECU or purely just for the warning light on the dash?

As far as I know just to the dash. People have removed these in the past without any problems.

If this sensor is disconnected you may have the dash light permanently lit.

did you just unclip the sensor from the loom matt? or just cut the wires and bridged them together?

that sensor has no reference to the ecu, if you remove it, the dash light will not turn on.
