Hi,
So i did a compression test on my motor yesterday.

Dry test, cold, all plugs out, throttle closed (maybe should have been open?) Screw in type gauge, 7 cycles per cylinder

1: 50
2: 50
3: 55
4: 25
5: 75
6: 75

I really hope I did something wrong here or should I start looking for a 2jz?

are you sure your gauge is accurate?
try squirt a tiny bit oil oil down and try again. will help show if rings arent the best

Yeah I think I'll try it with a different gauge. It is a new gauge though.

Wouldn't surprise me though. It does run rough and you can hear a miss on idle. Bit of oil out the back as well...

sounds like you need to replace your rocker cover gaskets. it is easy enough to do yourself and the gaskets were only about $80 from Toyota when i did mine.

I doubt it would run at all if those figures were accurate!

If those figures are correct, I think your engine would be barely running.

shouldnt make that much of a difference.

I got 200psi throughout my cylinders few weeks back while the throttle body was closed, its how we always do it at work and we get no difference with throttle open or closed

Make sure Battery is full.
Crank 4 times then get reading.

Otherwise Try another gauge.

Thanks for your replies guys!

Turned out to be a faulty gauge. Replaced with another one and now I have 190 across all cylinders. very happy!

Running like a new car now that i've changed the plugs too...
