I'm removing the engine harness from my vvti 1j. Can I somehow remove the harness black cover thingo near the injectors without taking off the throttle body or manifold? Have tried to find a guide but no go...

To answer your question, I would say no. From what I've done, it is by far much easier to just unplug the harness from the ECU and pull it through the firewall and remove the harness together with the engine and transmission all in one go.
