Hello guys
For a while now my car has had a few small issues. The auto was/is fubar, slipping majorly when giving it the boot, so I never did anymore, just drove it normally and I had no problems.
Car goes through a fair bit of oil (blows blue smoke when idling), but I keep it topped up and change it with the filter regularly. I have detonation on high boost around 3500rpm so I dont boost it around and if I do I put in octane booster which solves that problem. Confirmed by Cihan on dyno.
When I start the car up on a cold morning there are 5 or 6 loud knocks coming from the front of the car somewhere then it disappears. Thinking motor or something loose possibly??
Now today when I drove to work in the morning while on citylink, I could hear an ever so faint clacking noise coming from the front end of the car. It would stay constant while cruising, if i let off the gas pedal the noise would go away... if i accelerated it would get louder then stop. Then the noise went away completely.
Driving HOME from work tonight on the citylink, the faint noise comes back, while going up a slight incline on the freeway the car starts slowing down so I try to accelerate, boost went up, revs went up but the car went no where, and the clacking got faster and louder, it would stop once I eased off the gas pedal. When I got to the top of the incline the car instantly DIED. Pulled over into the emergency lane, tried to start it and it WOULD NOT crank. AT ALL.
Rang up RACV and paid $291 for roadside assistance and to get a tow, and for someone to come out and look at the car at my place. This guy could NOT get the car to crank while hooked up to his battery. He checked cam timing and it was fine, but he had no idea and said it needs to go to a mechanic.
I have a mechanic buddy coming around tomorrow, but if anyone has any ideas about what it could be, please share!
Mr RACV suggested the auto is completely up creek, maybe a piston broke in the motor, starter motor has seized etc but nothing definitive.
Any ideas would be great, but well see what happens tomorrow.

except for the knocking noises, it sounds like my car at the moment, massive oil leaks, no compression, pings on boost, this motor will soon die a horrific death... hopefully ill have my 2jz-gte in a few weeks though

Rob, why on earth would you want parts off my car??
We pulled some stuff apart today, we are able to crank the motor by hand. So it musn't be catastrophic?? Gearbox will be investigated next, but I'm thinking of just getting a new engine and box and swapping it instead of trying to find the problem. Too many possibilities. Argh.

yeah I saw that, Cihan mentioned it also.
I think that would be too expensive. Paying to have it built, new exhaust, cooler piping, and I would obviously have to go single turbo. too much money im afraid if i wasnt buying the house i might consider it
if i can find a good nick 1jz/vvti/2jz that I can just drop in and modify my curent mods to fit, i think thats the go...
