HI Everyone, i am having alot of trouble with my build. have a 1j with to4b (just rbuilt by Mr Turbo) single conversion. 650 injectors, manualised box and 3ooo stallie. Also have retune and piggy back from Chip torque.

issue i have at the moment is that it runs like a rotary, when idol it drops revs. runs better with air con on but when turn it off it stalls. like a big air leak.

there is a pipe at the back left side of the head ( drivers side) hat sucks alot of air, it had a breather on it but it seems to suck to much to be a breather, more of a vaccum line.
can anyone let me know where this should be plumbed into? have changed the airflow sensor and o2 sensor also..

cheers

I can't help you with what is it, but you can test if its the issue by putting your thumb over it (or if you aren't as lazy as me, block it properly) whilst it's idling.

If it is the problem, the idle should smooth out.

Rhys, That would usually be plumbed into the intake. It is the "iscv" or idle conrtol valve. Ot lets enough air in to keep the car idling. The ecu opens it up alot when cold to keep the revs up.

I would say your chiptorque tune is the problem. They probably altered the map signal so much to get it running with 650cc injectors that it wont idle properly and the ecu is trying to compensate and keep the valve open to keep it from stalling and thats what the sucking noise is.

Does it idle better when it the engine is hot?

Hi,

Thanks Christian, it does run better when hot.. can still stall though… when I block the intake it stalls which makes sense with it being the “ISVC” it might well be the tune as when it was tuned we discovered a manifold leak whish has since been fixed. So should I leave it open to air (with a breather) or should I plumb it back to the intake?

Thanks

Plumb it back in to the intake as that is where the car gets its air from when the throttle body is closed, if you leave it open it will suck in unfiltered air and there is a small chance it could suck something in a stuff your engine completely.

Does it still run rough at 2000-3000rpm?

HI Rob,

it does have a filter on the end to stop any foreign objects at the moment. Not free to air.

it runs fine at all RPM, just wont idol.. keeps dropping revs like a rotor and then stalls.. frustrates a little.

Its the large injectors and the piggy back doing it. I had the same problem with my emanage and 800's. you have to trim the map signal so much for it to run that it affects idle. Standalone ECU is your solution

The EMB trims fuel Via the map signal but I thought the Ultimate actually controls the injectors without altering the map?
