hi guys i need some help urgently as im trying to remove the 1j from my soarer but need to know a few things like how to split the auto box i have undone all the bell housing bolts that i can see but the thing im not sure about is how many bolts are there in the bell housing and where are the torque converter bolts and how many of them are there and are there any tricks that could help me out

found the torque converter bolts and got all 6

Auto box can be pulled out just by undoing the bellhousing bolts, have to pull straight otherwise it won't come out so you need a jack on the back of the box to keep it straight.

Once the Auto box is separated from the engine you can now take the engine out easily.

is there an easy way to get to the very top 2 bolts on the bellhousing like losing the gearbox cross member and leaning the gearbox back or can you access them from above from the engine side

Drop the gearbox crossmember and let it hang down (keep it supported still though) this will allow you to join a couple of extensions together with an uni-joint at the end and access the top two bolts from under the car - you will never get them from top
