Guys im changing the right rear wheel hub and all control arms after a gutter jumped out of no where. I am stuck on these last two nuts and bolts and i really dont want to have to remove the rear subframe to get them out.

its the top control arm shaped like a triangle and i cannot get the nut out, with a 19mm socket and breaker bar it just spins and i cannot fit anything up there to stop it from spinning if it is even a nut on the other side.

when we removed it from the donor car the seemed to just wind out but on mine they spin freely

Any help ?

if you are talking about the bush mounts then you need to drop the front of the subframe and get in there and stop the nut from rotating. They normally have a locking shim tab, but sometimes these are removed or they get bent when you try to undo them.

Same with the rear part - you drop the rear part of the subframe only (8 bolts) and then you jamb a spanner in there and undo.

If you are talking about the ball joint end on the hub, you need to tighten it so the taper grips and then loosen it. If have used a lot of WD40 or similar on this bolt, it will be harder to remove.

Thanks costa. I got in there with a 19mm open ender without having to drop the subframe .

Yep, what i meant in my post was you can lower the subframe about 2-4 cm by undoing the front mounts only and vice versa to get your spanner in :-)

It's a sucky job, but once you get the knack of it, it's not so bad lol.

Hi Josh I can show you a few pointers if you like in exchange for a few drinks so long as you got a few tools for this job.

You need to have larger size sockets and spanners from 14mm upto about 24mm or so as most of those bolts will be large, Breaker Bars and sometimes a good idea is a metal pole that can slide over the breaker bar to give it more leverage.

A small Hydraulic jack and Hammer.
