Hello.

I am wanting to know what the weight of a bare 1JZ or 2JZ block is, no crank/head/accessories etc.

Anyone one know?

I assume it weights more than a bare 1UZ alloy block since the JZ is iron.

Cheers

Oh cool.

If you could take the time to weight it, that would be appreciated!

no way 40-50kgs. can't even lift it off the ground. I'd say 130-150kg's at a guess. then again, mine has the crank and head in place so minus 50kg?

Hmmm would two people be enough to lift a 2JZ/1JZ block in that case, without the cylinder head?

that should be fine...bare blocks aren't normally that heavy. Me and a mate lifted an r34 block into a ute.

I have a bare 1jz block on an engine stand at my workshop.

~80-90kg as a bare block is my estimation. Need 2 people to lift it safely onto an engine stand.

Head + cams and covers is around 35-40kg (just lifted it off today).

Crank is around 35kg and rods/pistons each would be at least 1.5kg a set.

Not light weight by any means.

I've got a bare block being cleaned atm, I'll weigh it up on human scales and see how heavy it is. My estimation is around 35-40kg. I couldnt get a good grip on it due to oily surfaces when I was loading it on the stand so I thought it was heavier lol.

Crank is around 35kg and Rods + Pistons 12kg total.

Bottom end, at least 100kg with no accessories.

Pot shot at engine weight, fully loaded would be closer to 200 kg. I'm looking for 500kg scales to weigh it properly on an engine crane.

Thanks Coasta

Well that gives me a good idea of what it will be like maneuvering one of these around, will need to plan for it.

I thought you were against 1jz/2jz motors?
What are you planning on using it for? A boat anchor?

Ok I've got some weights from my normal scales.

1JZ block, bare, no bearing caps or bolts - 52kg
1JZ Crankshaft - 25kg

2JZ Block (estimate) ~57kg
2JZ Crankshaft - 27kg

Pistons/rods/caps are about 1.25-1.5kg each x6
