Hey guys,
Im looking at replacing the o2 sensor on my '91 1JZ-GTE (probably the only thing that wasnt changed at the recent 100,000km service interval). Fuel consumption isnt the best it could be and im almost certain its down to this. My setup is stock aside from a 3" cat-back and BFI / HKS panel.
I have found some universal 3-wire o2 sensors which look exactly the same as stockies, and a flange adaptor. Has anybody used these or could anybody suggest whether they'd fit? I mostly need to know the soarer flange specs.

Im not sure whether its a 100,000km servicable item but I will do it nonetheless.
Ive replaced everything major - water pump, all belts, gaskets, tensioners, head gasket + arp head studs, most hoses replaced, new aluminium radiator, etc. Im looking to make about 240rwkw soon but first need a clean base.
With all the work I've done I would hope consumption to be a lot better, but o2 sensor and caps, then dyno tune with an e-manage, and all should be good

A 3 wire sensor has a +ive and -ive power to a header to stop condensation ruining the sensor and get it up to operating temp quicker. The other wire should be a 0-1v narrow band signal, so yes it should be compatible. I would also buy a brand name o2 sensor, such as a NTK, Bosch, Denso and so forth. No-name o2 sensors may not last as long and probably do not have a calibrated element compared to the brand name variety which can last over 100,000 kms, and cost around $100-$150.

What's wrong with just buying one from Toyota?
1. I'm in Tassie 2. Overpriced 3. I'm in Tassie
Basically I cant justify forking out whatever my local dealer wants. I, and other import drivers in my area have learnt to avoid our local Toyota like the plague - many a time they send the wrong part, even when you quote part numbers. I once ordered brackets for my SW20 MR2's gen-III kouki taillight shroud, and I got brackets for a hilux number plate, like wtf???.
I thought about Castle Hill Toyota, as they are always more than happy to help and are fairly priced, so I will check them out before I go ahead with this.
Jeff I'm happy to be the guinea pig on this one mate unless you beat me to it.

I priced a pair for the V8 from Toyota, can't remember price, but the Bosch type were a hellava lot cheaper.
If thats the case then the bosch universal is still $120 the cheapest Ive seen it. Makes me wonder if this product will be cheap and nasty, but its only a damn sensor.
The ebay links I provided above are for a seller located in Springfield, VIC, as is the company HiFlo, and both are priced the same ($39 + post), so they seem to be the same company and product.
They have an almost perfect ebay feedback score, aside some shipping dilemmas (prob not even their fault), but I'm interested to know how these work on a 1J. I might even send him an email re. compatability, but when I get time on the weekend I will be sure to measure up the flange on the 1J sensor since nobody seems to have too much experience here thus far.
It will probably wait now until a weeks time as whilst waiting for this thread to develop I have gone ahead and bought an optima yellowtop battery and FMIC I'll let everyone know how I go with it nonetheless - worst comes to worst, I'll still have my old sensor.
