Definitely the first thing on my list is fuel consumption. Ill be purchasing another computer with an attached fuel controller. that way ill be able to control it Hopefully that fixes the problem. next thing after that is MAP sensor. Failing that, i have no idea. lol

Hi rob, you've been around a fair while and would know that a shift kit will only cause harsh shifts at low power around town. There's really no point in a shift kit unless you're racing and want firm/fast shifts for quick times. In my opinion it is "wank factor" if spending $300 plus for a shift kit really adds no performance without upping the power substantially...and yes I would totally agree with you that there is no point in doing any mods until it is running correctly so money better spent on fixing the tune and perhaps a dyno run to identify any problems accurately. Not sure that a trans cooler would really add any performance gain or trans life either as there is already a basic trans cooler fitted and not really necessary until the power is upped. Aaron, do a search on plugs on this forum there are numerous references to copper vs platinum, the copper are much cheaper and reportedly give better performance whereas the platinum give far longer life but supposedly lesser performance. Also investing in an aftermarket ECU is a noble cause and will give excellent performance improvements but like Rob said if there is a fault other than in the factory ECU you really need to fix that first otherwise you will only compound the problem and generate huge expense in trying to dyno tune it. An aftermarket ECU trimming fuel may only mask the real problem.

Actually a stage 1 shift kit with the line pressure adjusted can still offer smooth changes at low throttle, I used to d do 1100ks a week and it was nice and smooth but still ran 11.89 at the creek. What is your definition of performance? Getting bigger numbers on the dyno or actually having a faster car. If its the later then yes a shift kit adds performance.
Aaron, don't spend money in a computer yet, see if you can borrow one first to see if that is the problem.

Cheers guys, i've run diagnostics a few times but it doesn't seem to come up with errors codes, ill look into how to test the map sensor. Apart from that, im not sure what else to check. Wouldn't happen to know what part number those plugs are ? I know NGK are pretty highly recommended.

If the ECU has had it it won't always bring up error codes, even if you just buy a 2nd hand one for $100 try it out and if it doesn't fix the problem just sell it and you will get your money back. If you have already got the new platinum plugs and they are gapped correctly I wouldn't look at changing them.

I had the cat put on the day after i put the new exhaust on. Its a 100cpsi high flow thing. Brand spanker, so thats not the issue. Im buying another ecu with some fuel thingo wired into from ian. Hopefully be able to play with that.
