I'm having a bit of trouble maintaining traction when I give it the beans. Even from about 50 or 60km, stamp on it and it goes sideways. As fun as that is, I'm getting sick of it when I really need the car to go forward e.g. domestic v8 next to me.
I am running 18/245 Nexen N3000 tyres on the back which I was told are decent tyres, but I have my doubts as they were pretty cheap. Last time I had a wheel alignment I asked them to set it up for good traction.
What do you guys do to increase traction? Just get better tyres?

nexcen, cheap tyres and dont grip for anything, have them on my skid rims and will smoke them up in 3rd under boost no problems LOL
Ive found maxi MAV1 victras are extremely sticky for cheaper tyres. Ive got them on the back of the soarer at the moment and its great, no problems at 20psi with the single, 1st gear will smoke them no worries though
But yeah for cheapoer tyres i can highly recomend them.

toyo proxies 4's or the new t1 sport's ill be going for the t1 sport's when i go for tyres soon as they have the same grip levels as the old t1r's but are non directional so you can rotate them

spray your tyres with some belt grip, comes in a green can. Used to use it on my drag car tyres. Makes even crappy tyres perform a heap better. Only problem is it doesnt last long.

I would swear by the Proxes 4's - best "budget" tyre I've ever owned - not that I'd have many traction problems with my setup - but they are fantastic wet or dry.
But yeah, don't cheep out on tyres - get the absolute best you can afford.

I found the Maxxis MAV-1 was a good tyre for traction, but tread wear was no good - chewed out in about a year or 10,000km (no I don't do burnouts everywhere ....)
and after running on Bob Jane "performance" tyres for about 3 weeks now, I can definitely say stay away from them if you want traction .... they sent me sliding on the last cruise! might need to send them back to the front!

Austen I have ACHILLES ATR SPORT 245/35/ZR19 on my Soarer.....they were very affordable at $220 each and I have found them quite grippy so far when I give it stick, but saying that, my car is not modded like yours lol..... I have done close to 5000km with them and they have hardly worn so far
I was gonna go for toyo proxes but for my 19's the price was like upwards of $360 each and I though fck that... at the time
oh BTW..... why are ya buying tyres for bro? arent ya getting those new rims and tyres soon anyway?

I can only explain what I have experienced with, Maxxis MA-Z1 Victras. I have found them to be a great tyre. I have had them for 1 year and 8 months, done 25,000 kms. Plenty of tread left. I have just looked at one source online selling the same spec Maxxis tyres and are priced at $180. $86 cheaper than what I paid new when I purchased mine. Mind you I don't own a high hp soarer, only 250 odd kw at wheels.

My Mother in law's Altezza has Achilles tyres on it - don't know what model - but they are the worst I've ever driven on. I thought Achilles was a very appropriate name for them since they are definitely the Achilles heel of the car now.
Again guys, don't buy cheep arse South East Asian tyres - stick with European, Japanese, Australian or American - you are talking about saving cents per KM here for something that is THE most important safety and enjoyment factor on the car. If it costs you an extra $60 per tyre to get a Yokohama or a Bridgestone, who cares!!!
