Hey guys, just recently picked up a 2nd hand motor. Have run into something regarding the ECU harness. From what I can see, they look the same, but have a different part number. If any one can shed some light, then here are the part numbers. It would be good to know what model 1JZ this is.

Old motor - 82121-24331-F03
New motor - 82121-24332-B

It is from a Soarer, but there are small differences. One thing I have noticed is the rocker covers use a 10mm nut, where as my old one uses philips. This leads me to believe it is a later model 1JZ, so I assume the ECU harness/motor is interchangable?

the main connectors to check are the alternator. the two going to your fuse box, the gearbox plug and a few small differences here and there. if the connectors are different. swap to your original loom and sensors.
but check the pin layout of the connectors not the size as i found out that 91-93 is different to 94-96. i had to pull my motor apart again to run my original loom.

what if I run it with the ECU supplied? It's also different from the ones I have, but use same connectors. I'll check pins now. But then if the fuse box connectors are different, doesn't really work does it.

Pins are the same. So why is it a different part number? Searched forums and google with no answers.

Series 1 = screw pins and older style ecu loom 91-93 and Series 2 94-96 is a little different again.

10mm nut cam covers = series 2 motors.

So will the harness work out okay? Because the pins/plugs are all the same. So there is no difference or...?

Just want someone that has experienced this so I don't put it all in and then rip it all out again.

Can't tell for sure, but I don't see why it wouldn't work if you have it all wired in correctly. I've swapped 91 ecus into my 94 soarer with no problems. The alternator loom is different, that's about it.

Yeah just confirming I used the loom that came with the motor and used the ECU that cam with it. Alternator plug was the same and both ECU's (visually different) both work the same.
