Hi all, i have a fairly urgent problem that needs sorting out.

I have a 93 TT

Went out to the car yesterday, turned the key, the ignition lights come on but the car would not start or even turn over.
Fuel pump sounds like it's priming but i just have no power to the ignition whatsoever apart from the dash lights.

I have a cat1 (sterling) alarm fitted, the key fob still seems to activate & deactivate the alarm correctly and the immobiliser light on center console still comes on and goes off.

The only other info i have is that the battery has been at really low capacity recently, but not of course, totally dead.

Tried disconnecting battery for 20 mins to reset everything, but still nothing.

Any info on what may be the cause and/or how to fix would be very much appreciated!

Maybe the battery has finally died. Can you check the battery voltage?
Tried a jump start?
I see you have a manual, can you try a push start?
And check your battery terminals and earth points.

If battery has been low lately maybe your alternator is dead, and the battery has finally given up the ghost.

Try a jump start. If you can't check the voltage (should be over 13v with the engine running) pull the positive lead off the your battery terminal, if the engine dies straight away your alt is producing no charge.
