Foe a week or two now, my steering has been getting heavy the more I drive my car. It functions perfectly in the morning when the engine is cool.

Has anyone else ever had this problem?

flushed. or leaking out of a seal once it gets hot and everything has expanded.

Except it wouldn't replenish when the system cooled down.

Also, low fluid makes the pump quite noisy.

Could be a kink in the power steer cooler pipes.

Try running a different cooler.

That cooler is on the passenger side in behind the front bar, it's very basic the standard one, just a bent up tube. I'm running an EF falcon tranny cooler as my power steer cooler now.

If you want any more info PM me and I can send you some pics ect. I have a standard car apart at home and can send you pics of the modified one too. Very basic mod.

I had the same problem and found it was a leaking seal on the pump

also check they may be a wire or plastic gauze in the power steering reservoir. may be clogged up or ive also heard of them melting from people doing burnouts on full lock or if you keep pressure on full lock for ages and heat the oil up too much.

as james said get a transmission cooler and put in the place of the original bent pipe method. will keep the temps way down.

Great idea Casey. I will try to get an oil cooler after I flush this weekend.
