because ive seen it go and i know its worth more than he is going to sell it to me for smartass... if you dont have anything constructive to say why bother saying anything? or are you one of those people that just likes the sound of his own voice.

so let me get this straight. i ask a question, someone comes back with a smartass comment and im just meant to ignore it? Ive only been a member of this forum for a short time and i joined to grow my knowledge of my new car but i have noticed that there is only a handful of members that actually are willing to pass the knowledge they have onto others anyway so if no one wishes to help thats fine by me. if someone asks a question and i think i can help then i am the type of person that will do what i can to help. This forum is a wealth of knowledge and it makes me disappointed to think of all the wasted knowledge about these fantastic cars that is out there just because people cant be bothered to or are scared to ask because of replies like the one i got. thats my little rant over and done with so back to the original question. can anyoen help.

it should have the a/r stamped/cast into the rear and front housings. If you could find out this it will give you a rough idea on what size it could be.
Is it both oil and water cooled?
There is in most cases a information tag in the centre or on the front housing.
If you had pics and more info might be able to tell you what it could be

Sorry im with Mark . How can you know its a good deal if you dont know what it is >?
$400 china turbo can go good , make power , you willing to pay $1800 2nd hand for it though ?
Take some pics if you can , normally an ID plate might be attached or the front housing will have some info stamped or cast onto it . However the rear housings can be a bit different to tell .
You really want to measure everything with some verniers to get the wheel sizes as well . In the end , might be worth taking it to a turbo shop to get it inspected to make sure its all hunky dory

You are buying something of a guy who is going to prison? Hmm, if might be ripping you off, then my advise is don't even bother researching it - just walk away - he probably is trying to rip you off. Sounds like a class act all the way.

matthew you simply cannot judge character because his mate is going on a forced holiday. he might have known for a long time prior and so allow adrian here to make a character judgement on his own accord.

so i rang my mate and told him to go and get the numbers of it and he said the rear housing has 2.83 on it and its a gcg turbo because thats whats on the little name tag thing with a serial number there is also a PN k27 under that. i just tried to ring gcg but they are closed so i guess it can wait till monday. hopefully they should be able to look the serial number up and tell me exacly what it is with any luck. ill still try and get some photos to post up so you guys can play the guessing game.

If this is that turbo.. I would say stay away.. Save an extra $500 and buy new.. I have been stung by buying cheap turbo's... It will end up costing you more in the long run.. That's just my thought's and it is totally up to you as it is your choice..

it looks simular to those but the rear is heaps bigger. they cant be that cheap if they are using them on porsche and mercedes cars you would think. i found a site that sells them and they range from a $1200 upto $3800. either way ill wait until monday and call gcg turbos and get them to run the numbers.

well its now on my car and pulls really hard. ive always had issues with not enough punch down low from lag and this turbo has more lag than my other one so its more noticable. ive got a few ideas on changing the tune to help the turbo come on alittle earlier so once i save some cash ill get it dynoed and go from there. if you are going on the cruise on sunday you can have a look at it walter.

so after ringing gcg they were no help so i had a talk to my buddy and he said i could throw it on and if it hadnt blown up by the time he gets out of the big house, in about 8 months our $200 debt would be even. if it blows up he still owes me the $200 and we will sort it out later. it goes well but there is more lag than my gt35r with a 1.1 rear on it. it pulls really had from 3800rpm till redline. i think with some bigger injectors it will take it to another level but only time will tell. here are some pics i just took.

haha james. i got pulled over.. so that must mean i won the race w00! (racing on public roads is bad!)
from the pics you have there adz i suspect that this turbo came of a 13b rotary.
what is stamped on the front compressor housing? can't quite see but it looks to be a honeywell stamp. if it is. this is then a turbo for truck applications, modified to suit a 13b, then palmed off to your mate and to you.
