Stock engine with a single T70 turbo, FMIC, Exhaust, Mines ECU, SAFCII and SITC.

I installed an adjustable cam gear (exhaust side) last night and retarded it 6 degrees to try and reduce lag. Driving it to work today it felt laggier than before! Am I missing something??
It was noticeably stronger in the top end but I expected less lag not more.

Try going the other way....

One of my cars runs 6deg retarded on the exhaust and it made some difference. The centre should be tilted towards the drivers side I think from memory

Although isn't that advancing it??? Fark knows i didn't set it up...

Might be able to send you a pic?

Strange. I noticed a change at -6 also with mine. I believe you can also advance the intake timing by a couple of degrees without any dramas - well I have heard that on this forum.

I always thought the car would go into limp mode - apparently not !

Report back once you figure it out.

I'm pretty sure I have it rotated the correct way.
Can you send me a pic just to make sure?
I only installed an adjustable cam gear on the exhaust side, so can't do anything with the intake. I heard the gains with advancing intake are negligible, so I didn't bother.

Managed to work it out.

You rotate it clockwise to retard the timing. Found some instructions on AEM website.

It's a bit confusing on the cam gear itself as rotating it clockwise puts it in the "A" direction which one would assume is advanced.
