Hi guys,

I know this has probably been answered a million times before but I just need to clarify a few things. The other day when taking off from the light's, my work colleague noticed black smoke coming from the exhaust & told me that the car was probably running a bit rich! The oil has been changed recently by a mechanic as well as the oil filter. Fuel usage has also risen slightly but that could just be my driving!

Could it be too much oil or do I need a tune? How would I fix this problem?

Starting it this morning I noticed no black smoke & in general I haven't seen any black smoke it was only on take off!

Thanks & apologies if this has already been answered!

Mine does that as well, pretty normal i think. almost 100% of skylines do it, just the old 1jz clearing its throat.(Plugs) ecu reset might help a bit.

Boost it up to lean it out! :p
On a serious note if your fuel consumption gets noticeably worse and an ECU reset doesn't fix it,
check your O2 sensor.

Alright thanks for that guys appreciate it, I'll try figuring it out & post back asap. I might try resetting the ecu & then worse case scenario another o2 sensor!

What kind of fuel consumption are you guys getting per 100kms?

Around town about 13-15L / 100 km's which includes spirited driving .

Open road , have gone as low as 9.5L/100km's on a 1200km trip .

yeah she's been running rich for ages ... the first stomp on the loud pedal each day generally results in a shower for the car behind ...
I didn't consider that one day and the poor bloke on the GSXR1100 behind me was NOT happy !!!
