Hi All,

Might be stupid question, but do the the 2jz stock twins fit straight on the 1jz head? anyone tried and is there enough room/mods required etc?

Another question, anyone tried a small single set up, like a evo8 16g turbo?

Again ive currently got a CT26 single on there and just exploring ideas, im not really after much power or anything, engine is really reliable so i just want my turbo to be healthy.

Cheers

ive got a couple of 2jz turbo's and can supply you the flanges to fit onto stock manifolds. you'll have to re-work the rear turbo as it doesnt have an internal wastegate. just a flap. and use stock 1jz TT turbo piping as the 2jz is all setup for sequential. but the turbo's themselves would be good, a little laggy but nothing stupid. or.... you could keep your ct26 and use it as the compound turbo in a compounding setup. use the front ct12b with internal wastegate. have all 6 runners head to the front ct12b, then use the dump off the ct12b and run that to the turbine intake of your ct26, then you could either run seperate cold air intakes for each and have a butterfly controled by another wastegate to shut off the outlet of the ct26 compressor so that the ct12b isn't trying to pressurize the ct26 backwards. when this sees equal pressure on both sides of the butterfly it opens allowing full breathing off boost, shutting on low boost, open again on full boost. OR.... you could also compound the intakes by taking the outlet of the ct12b and piping that to the cold air intake of the ct26 then from ct26 to intercooler. the setup you choose will determine spool time for both turbo's

Hi Walter, Thats some good info. I dont have any stock equipment with the car. It just has an aftermarket manifold running to a top mount ct26. I've seen some single turbo setups using a very very small turbo, would it be worthwhile putting a 12b on there alone or something? I'm just looking for a simple solution to changing the turbo to a decent one, would be better if someone could name a turbo that has the same exhaust inlet as the CT26 so that i can bolt it straight on and only do minimal work to the dump to mate it all up...

Cheers

hahahahaha a ct12b alone would be waaaay too small mate. why are you wanting to replace the ct26 if your not looking for more power? and what sort of 1jz have you got? vvti or non-vvti?

you could use any turbo you want. just cut the flange off and weld the appropriate one on. any exhaust or engineering shop can do this for you.

Non VVTi mate, The CT26 is in bad condition, I would replace with the same one if i found one in good condition, just exploring all options if there is an easy bolt on to replace etc..
