Hi all I went and did a few hard laps at the track and the temp gauge went to hot, then flashed.

Pulled into the pits and the coolant was boiling. Let it cool for half an hour and poured water in the radiator and drove home fine for 2h.

I havnt checked but the temp seems to be ok now it does not go 1 bar above hot.

I noticed when I turned on the AC, THE THERMOFAN DOES NOT SPIN. Are soarers wired to do this or not? What else should i check?

I think the thermofan only runs to supplement the regular cooling, and there fore only comes on when needed. Could be wrong.

On my track car I just removed it and taped up the hole and my water temps are fine. Oil temps are still high though.

I would check your coolant level again, as sometimes you get an air lock causing you to think it is full.

Also get some toyota red anti freeze/anti boil in there to as well.

I have never boiled my coolant, so there may be an issue. Some other things to do:
1. check you have all the undertrays- these aid cooling and aero.
2. get your radiator reconditioned. Mine cost about $200 at NATRAD and came back looking brand new. I have never had an issue in the track car since.
3. Install an oil cooler if you are going to do more track work. Higher oil temps leads to higher coolant temps. You turbos will last longer too.
4. Check the condition of the cooling system (fan, thermostat, etc.)

My under trays have been removed this could be why

The fan I am talking about is the small one passenger side facing the rear of the radiator at the bottom

It could be the under trays, air is diving under car rather than passing through rad ,the front tray has small scoops to keep the pressure high in front of rad.

^^^ as above ^^^

the engine under tray helps the airflow speed up and exit the engine bay

I would think there are more things at play, eg blocked radiator core, dodgy thermostat etc.
