hey guys, ive looked around but not sure the other threads answered my question fully.
I upgraded my exhaust to full 3 inch and the day after under hard acceleration the car hits about 3500 rpm and then like misfires on that rpm or climbs very slowly for a couple of seconds before it continues to rev, worst happened when going up the hill where the engine seemed like it was misfiring for even longer. start up and normal driving as well as if i climb through the revs steadily instead of suddenly the car remains fine. I'm wondering if my exhaust has anything to do with it, if not any ideas please??? fuel pump? electrical fault?? tune?

Boost cut?
agreed. If the only change made was an exhaust then what else could it be? What are the temps like in your area? Have you done any intake mods?(FMIC, BFI, Pod filter etc). If it is cool, a free flowing exhaust mighjt be enough to hit boost cut.
Does it feel like the engine momentarily cuts out a couple of times?

Yeah temps right now are mild too cool. I use to have a pod filter on it but when back to stock, and the problem was worst with the pod filter. Best way i can describe it is like a computer glitch is happening and my rev limiter just starts to jitter and a weird noise occurs.
Ive started to look at FCD's like HKS and Jaycar, both ive read are good.
Cheers guys for your help
Sorry if it was a basic questions but still a newbie

my point exactly daniel. They are a less efficient, more expensive plug with a shorter lifetime. Ive had problems with everything I have run them in from gtfours to silvias to 1ggtes and the 1j. they are crap just stay with conventional plugs. they are cheaper, more efficient and last longer.

Iridium is much harder than either copper or platinum. No way will they wear out quicker - that's just not possible unless they have manufacturing faults or they are being used way outside of their tolerance levels (iridium is quite brittle so it can shatter under extreme conditions, but it won't wear out in 20,000km like a copper plug).
General consensus seems to be with high boost copper works better, but personally I think its some kind of placebo effect since iridium plugs have a finer point and therefore should provide improved spark.

I guess it comes down to personal experience. Ive never had a set of iridiums do what they say on the box. Ive always had problems with them breaking down really badly where the coppers kept firing without a problem. i tried them in all of my gtfours, my bmw (1ggte powered 323i) and ofcrouse in my soarer. Ive never had any success with them. So thats all ive got to say about them

I have to say I've never owned a modified turbo car, so can only go on what others say - and there is definitely a preference for coppers. - I've always run them in my N/A Soarers though - always get the stated 100,000km's out of them with no issues. of course I wouldn't want to be changing them more regularly given the hassle it is on the 2JZ-GE.

Was talking to Mark Chapman from mrc dyno and he was saying that of all things ford have a iridium plug that fit the 1j that cost ~$15. Theyre made by Denso too and gapped to .7

UPDATE: Hey guys just updating this post.
I finally got around to checking the spark plugs and i got to back up Harley on this one. The tip of the plugs have worn down and now are flat. All 6. Replaced them with the normal ones and all is fixed. Plugs were 8000kms old.. what a waste of money. cheers guys

There has to be a reason for Iridium plugs going " flat " and failing under 8000km's of use .
Like i said , ive been using them for years , but also have new coil packs ( 3.5 years old ) . And always change my plugs every 12 mths which is about 15,000km's . They arent faulty or missfiring, just regular maintenane for me .

Well besides using 98 ron i dont add anything else. Im not sure if it was a faulty batch or theres something wrong with my coil packs but for whatever reason they were totally worn out
