Well, as the title says, I'm in need of some help with my 92, 1JZ, Auto, Soarer. I have owned the car for going on a year now and just after winter I began doing some small mods to it like removing the charcoal canister, A/C, cruise control, and heater control valve. None of which worked (Charcoal exempt) anyways, so as with any of the other cars I have owned in the past... I simply ripped them out.

Another small modification that I was very eager to do, I relocated the engine harness to run on the underside of the plenum, to do this I had seen no other way but to cut and pull the harness aside from dropping the trans. Everything went very well and worked out awesome, soldered and shrink tubed, no mismatched wires.

So, down to what I need help with. My check engine light comes on now, not right off the bat, but it takes a little. I can sit and rev my little heart out in the shop, but as I get moving I throws the CEL at me. I haven't quite put my finger on when exactly it comes on, but about 1/2 way down the road leaving my house. The car is still drivable, but doesn't seem to have the get up and go as before.

If you guys have any ideas as to where I may have gone wrong with my mods they would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Jordan.

I renamed the thread, as "Help!" is really useless for other people with a similar problem, also a lot of readers may not read and offer help because they don't see what it is about.

Good luck.

Sounds like a faulty knock sensor.
check that the Knock sensor plugs are pushed onto the sensor, Check that the wire hasnt been pulled out of the connector, allso check that you havnt snipped the wires somewhere and you should all so check that the knock sensors are tight if they have been removed.

Most likely just a faulty connection to to Knock sensor.

i hope you solve your problem soon.

If this is the problem, be sure to reset your ecu after its fixed.
This should clear the error code.

Sorry Peter, very new to this forum and will be more informative in the future.

Mark, thank you for the quick reply. I'll look into it tomorrow morning while I am taking the stock twins off for a single.

P.S

Are there any ill effects of removing the components I had? They've been sitting in my shop for over three weeks and am wanting to get rid of them if they're no longer needed.

if the check engine light is on why haven't you done the error code check to see what error is being thrown.... its in the how to section... that's where i'd be starting.

I would, but I'm in in the middle of putting my GT35 turbo on right now. I was hoping someone could give some insight to what it might be, I took it off the road before I found the diagnostic section of the forum here.

If I don't figure it out by then I'll give it a shot and see what I dome up with.
