David that is my point exactly, I asked him to come on our forum so that he could meet the members and get some advice. But as you can all the negative comments made, yes the welds are not the best but he is giving it a go. If you can weld and make something better by all means do so.

Its unfortunate that people act the way they do.

Anyway each to their own I guess.

Talk later people.

So I'm supposed to feel bad because this guy cant weld or fabricate for
Are we supposed to accept 2nd rate dumps because there isn't anyone else making them?
Christian - get over the poor me crap, I'm just trying to warn people so they wont get stuck with a crap dump that will crack everywhere and more than likely wont fit.
If you don't want to take my advice fine, go ahead and buy one. BTW, I wouldn't touch one of Lews wonderful creations either, too many people have had problems with cracking welds, leaks and general poor workmanship(just ask the guy from England) But seeing as Lew is such a legend everyone will probably tell me to shutup.
My 2 cents.

ok can we get Kurt to send you some pics of the inside so you can post them up? because one of two things has happened either the weld is super cold and just sitting there or its burnt through to the inside leaving bird everywhere.

I would love to, I'm waiting to get a new shed up so I can get set up to do fab work. I haven't got to prove my level of skill as I'm not trying to sell stuff. However I will take some pics of a steel tray I'm making for the my boy's Navara just to prove that I can weld.
When you do a weld you shouldn't have to grind the whole thing down to make it look OK, you should only have to give it a quick wire brush and a tickle with the grinder on the start and finish point.

Chris - I don't need to look at the inside, it can't be any worse than the outside.
Guys, I'm not criticising his work just for the hell of it, I want to save members from spending their hard earned money on a poor quality product. Some of the longer term guys (more than chris papadopoulos's one day)know where I'm coming from.

100% agree Jeff. What you guys need to understand is that even if these are the best dump pipes being manufactured for our soarers at the moment it doesn't mean they are worth putting on our cars. With the amount of time, well effort required to install dumps on our cars you want to make sure that
A) They line up correctly
B) They will last (hard to prove I know)
C) There is a big improvement in flow over stock

As for the manifold the only reason I can think of for him doing it that way would be that he didn't have the skill or patience to do it properly. Who makes an exhaust manifold, manifold? It is very cheap but that would have to be the worst flowing setup I've seen. He's making 240rwkw with a gt35, why would anyone brag about that?

Anyway, let us know how they go Christian.

stress test them overtime should tell whether or not they are decent even if the welds are the word of the moment "suspect".

even pacemaker, hm headers, wildcat etc have had manufacturing problems in the past.

all the fella needs is some one to R and D the product to make the version 1.0 better for the 2.0 release

If I had to do the whole dump thing again, I wouldn't bother I would just use the stock dump and open it out a bit.
I made 265 RWKW with the stock dumps at about 18psi boost. If you spent a bit of time and opened them out a bit they would be fine for most people. Also you wont have the fitment problems or dramas with cracking and leaking welds.
It's only us obsessed people that that run 30 psi of boost and want to go faster and faster down the strip that would need the higher flow.
I'm sure Daniel and others that have the experience would back me on this.
Just remember there are heaps of other flow improvements that can be done before the exhaust gases get to the dumppipe.

I agree with Jeff . Jeff knows his stuff when it comes to welding .

I reckon changing the dumps is a worthwhile prospect , for longevity . But there are other ways to gain more flow , like Jeff mentions .

Like porting the exhaust manifolds for starters . Ive just started a set and i cannot believe HOW small they actually are !!! If this guy ported the manifolds and then used his 2 into 1 pipework setup, it might actually flow ok .

Hi fellas,

Just thought I would inform everyone that Kurt's dump pipes have arrived and they look the goods.
He has changed from the original design on ebay and I am very happy with them.

I will put some pics up, just have to reduce the size.

I wont be installing for another few weeks yet as I'm chasing the gaskets, unsure if I need to change but would prefer to have handy just in case.

If any one knows where to get them from in sydney let me know. My exhaust place said should be able to get them but to bring the old ones first.

Would prefer to have prior.

I will comment on performance one they are installed, (hopefully its a perfect fit)

Anyway boys I'll try to upload some pics, then each off you can make up your own minds.

Cheers

Christian

As long as it fits and lines up with no hassles... That's the most important thing.

Good luck with it mate.
