Hey guys within the next month or so I'm going to need to find a tuner to tune my beast. Now I can have all the whiz-bang parts I like but if the tuner isn't up to the job I'm not going to get the power I should be out of my new set-up. I've heard mixed reports about absolutely everybody it seems so I was just wanting to get some personal accounts from you guys My tuning is to be done through an e-manage ultimate and I am anticipating somewhere in the vicinity of 450-500rwhp. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Marc

Emanage huh. Not many places in Brisbane do them. I know of two though. Tuned Automotive at the Gabba and 101 motor cafe. Personally I would go with Tuned as they would be cheaper. Just give them a call. I written some details on other places they may be able to help you in another thread, but can't find it. Will have a look when i get home from work.

Come on people, surely someone has had either their, EMB or EMU, tuned in last year or so.
Just after any feedback.
So some ideas so far,
Motor 101 cafe, but haven't been there in ages, have no idea who their tuner is.
APC, heard good and bad, reports, which doesn't say much.
Bob Romano, ?
Hi torque, they used to be good a few years back, not sure now, I'm sure they've tuned emanage before.
Power Torque, Don't own an SSV, yet ??
Gavin wood auto, He has a really nice setup, perhaps best dyno on coast. Although, he is a nissan guy, and loves his HKS fcon's etc.
PITS(matt spry), again nissan, nissan, nissan, which I still don't get, he should be able to tune either, but prob hasn't got time for non SR's or RB'S.
So, this is always the issue, who do you get to tune the bloody thing ? there never seems to be a consensus in these question, and I guess why most just leave there car untuned, otherwise just upload a map from other people. which Ive done in the past too good effect.
Does anyone have any maps for EMU, they want to share ? This could be a start, then will just give it a AFR/ knock check on dyno.
Brett.

i cant believe that out of all the soarers here in brisbane no one has got any reports of the dyno tuners they have used. Brett, ive just shot Lew Radbourn a message as he was the owner of Marlew preformance a few years back. hopefully he will be able to point us in the right direction for a good tuner.

Adrian, honestly I think the soarer performance scene has died, back in the day, I mean early 2000's, there would have been heaps of responses and interest in this topic. There is more threads about people parting their car, than anything else, says a lot !
My car is running pretty well, just running stock maps, and keeping boost down. So I'm happy to leave it, its only an occasional driver these days anyway. My point, If I get it tuned, I want someone to do a good job or not at all.

I personally know 3 people who have used a tuner in the Morningside/Bulimba area.
Steer clear I would say as none had positive outcomes. I know I only know one side of the story, but detonations and overblown prices on parts two other independent roadworthy checks found did NOT need replacing speaks for itself.

seems the case here is what you pointed out brett. most people know of tuners, but most didnt do a top notch job and people dont want to recommend them.
i tune my own but certainly dont recommend myself. in saying that i haven't had any issues relating to the tuning of my engine. it just seems to want more of everything. but is still awesome on fuel. ive done 15000 k's since putting in the EMB myself and tuning it the way i do. only thing i notice now is that power drops off a little when it gets hot. but also boost response drops and boost peak drops, which tells me the bush bearings in the turbo's are getting sloppy.

Hello Walter,
Theres definitely a quick buck to be made in the tuning scene, most aren't in it for the long term apparently. I'm thinking along your lines, and will be looking at a wideband kit, possible a Greddy branded one. The auto tune feature of the EMU will give me a start.
Oh I know people rant on about how c..p the Greddy auto tune feature is, however Ive heard lots of people using it too good effect. I think its a case of not blaming your tools, and I guess it will give you a guide only.

Walter , Sounds more like when it gets some heatsoak in it , you have it tuned close to the limit and the factory ECU is pulling timing due to knock detected .

So GT autos are pretty good they are the hks dealers here in Brisbane located near the royal I have used them and continue to use them the have a dyno pack and have been arround for 5 years a tune and service was only about 99 bucks and that was with all his gear.

yeah i thought that at first, but there is no pitting on top of the pistons. (had to have a look) and after feeling the turbo shafts. i'm certain they are the problem. i will be gettin a wideband soon if sh*! doesn't keep popping up. i'll post my afr's for amusement. lol they might be crazy numbers.. who knows! still spins top of first and most of second gear with the auto up to 80kph on superhot roads insanely fun in the wet. lol, all stock apart from EMB and hks evc4 running at 16psi
hoping to replace turbo's and drop in the 2jz injectors and fuel pump at once. if the turbo's desperately need replacing, i'm going to fab some dump pipes with wastegate outlets while they are out of the car. and do a full 316 zorst setup. atm just polishing the fuel rail at work then anodizing it red before i chuck her on with the injectors.
but GT auto's might be the go before i do all that i think. just to get base figures and see how far off my tuning is. carl sounds pretty satisfied with their work

Sean at EFI Performance in Yatala. I've got an e-Manage Ultimate and he's got it running really well from cold start. They've done quite a few soarers.

Nice power Bobby . The AT is almost 20 higher than the IT which would raise your figure higher than what it actually would be though , if you understand the correction value with Dyno Dynamics dyno softwares .
Thats the only thing you have to watch out for . Some tuners will do this to give you an " inflated " figure to make it seem your car is making more power than it actually is .
The AT and IT should always be withing a couple of degrees of each other . Not trying to knock your package Bobby , but you have to be careful as tuners use these things to make themself look better than they actually are .

I just drive 'em and do general maintenance, I let them do the tuning. I figure the dyno is a tuning tool. I've had the car tuned in a range of different set ups and this one feels the fastest at the moment. At 14psi the car has pulled away from a new m3 and kept up neck and neck with a tuned c63 AMG up to 280km/hr. It was 19psi on that dyno sheet. It starts perfectly and idles a bit high at 1000rpm, but it's smooth. I felt that the eManage Ultimate was pretty good for a piggy back ecu. That's the best I can qualify it I guess. I need to run it at the track and get a MPH reading, that might be useful too.
