I did rotate the engine but its not possible to see all of the piston through the plug hole. I have tried all this. But I got it out through the exhaust valve its ok. If I had my time again I would have just bought the 6 dollar claw from bunnings and grabbed it out

I wouldn't recommend the grease method - depending on the grease you use, and how much gets left behind, it could do all sorts of nasty things when it combusts. For example, if you used lithium grease, it could get very, very hot and score the bore - if you used copper cote it could leave deposits that would increase wear - even regular saponified oil greases would likely leave nasty coke deposits in the combustion chamber.

I dropped a screw down the 5th plug hole when i was changing my plugs a while back because my magnetic screwdriver failed me lol.. used a similar tool.. a long spring from autoone or repco and then wrapped a small but powerful magnet in the end of the spring then went fishing

Thought i would give closure to this thread. I always wasnt 100 % sure i got the bit out. so i went out and got the claw tool, and a 100 dollar inspection camera, found this massive piece of spark plug sitting over to one side of the piston, after a few attempts of just putting the claw in and closing it and hoping for the best, the claw wouldnt come back up as if it had grabbed something, so i pulled it up hard and there was the piece of plug, ended up giving the chamber a good blow out, car is back together and running perfect.

Different with higher boosted applications though Matthew . My mates tt 1uz Capri has issue with loosening the threads on the plugs after runs ... 30 psi might have a little to do with it , also with crush washers there is no torque setting that's equal . Once it touches it's 2/3 turn , which would equal different torques one would guess ???

Yeah, I always do 20nm - I know the box the plugs come in always say 1/3rd - 1/2 of a turn after contact, but I trust the torque wrench more. Never had to deal with high boost though.
