Hi guys,
Just wondering approx how much HP the 1jz can take on stock internals & if letting it rev out to 8000rpm is a really bad thing for these engines or not, I've only had my 1jz for a couple of months so getting to know these engines in and out

Hi James, i think around 400rwkw is a safe maximum number to run on a 'stock internal' engine that is in reasonably good nick. At these power levels though, the tuning has to be spot on. Some guys run them to 8000rpm stock, but i'm much more comfortable at having a redline at say , 7500 rpm. I just think it is asking for trouble to vastly increase horsepower AND then go and increase revs by heaps too. Too many guys thrash a twenty year old motor and then wonder why it has run a bearing.

There are heaps of 6-800 hp 1jz's in the states that are running standard internals. It all depends hw far you want to wind the boost up before she goes bang.

Sweet as thanks heaps for the feedback guys! I'm pretty sure mine revs out to 8000rpm but that's only if I keep it in first I think that has something to do with the Blitz Access ECU.

Yes, it does. I have the Blitz unit as well and it removes the rev limiter. However, I find the power really dies off after redline so why not just shift at 7000 when flogging?
