Hi guys, I just fitted a hks fcd and set the boost to 16psi, now when I go WOT it makes a popping noise between 4000rpm and 5200rpm. I would like to know thats causing this? Thanks in advance.

What kind of popping noise?

Is it like it sounds like there are rocks in the engine? My guess would be that it's pinging

SOunds like it is probably in need of new spark plugs . Spark blowing out .

Try running some BKR7ES gapped down to 0.7mm .

Also check Coil Packs for cracks .

Ok ill try the spark plugs and see how that goes, its definatly not pinging matthew its popping, its like a very slight misfire but it clears up fine after 5200rpm. by the way i changed my plugs about 1500km ago shouldnt they still be ok

You may have changed the plugs but are you sure they are gapped appropriately? When running higher boost you will have to gap them down in many cases. Did the problem start after you installed the FCD and changed the boost levels?

Yeah I gapped them to 7mm, and yes it only happens above 15psi

If not plugs then Coil packs or even try installing some New COil Pack Connectors as well , or Both :-)

Then you shouldnt have any spark issues .
