hey guys just wanted to know if anyone has unturbo'd their 2.5 twin turbo soarer. I'm just wondering is it safe to run the engine without turbos with stock ecu etc etc. i know its going to be laggy and probably use more fuel but its going to be another 2 years to my opens haha

What Carl said. Go and buy the NA JZZ31 Soarer. Why would you bother stuffing around trying to remove the turbos from a 2.5L motor when you have a Soarer that comes with a 3L non-turbo motor from factory?
The JZZ31 has a good engine in the 2JZ-GE (which the NA Supra uses also) and is pretty quick itself. When it's time for your fulls, just sell it and buy a twin turbo model or replace it with a 1JZ-GTE or, even better, a 2JZ-GTE.

Ive seen a stock JZZ31 put down the exact same power as a stock UZZ31 on the same dyno (130rwkw). Just get a late model JZZ31 and then sort out the rest later.

I wouldnt bother selling and rebuying in 2 years if you already have the car you want.. Like they said.. buy a little run around and park it up untill you get on your opens otherwise you will be driving a snail if you take the turbos off.

Every couple of weeks there is a young guy on here wanting to remove the turbos or put a 2JZ-GE in. All the advice here is good - just get a JZZ31 - they are great cars - I've had mine for over 7 years now and I still don't know what to replace it with. It's done 210,000km's, 130,000 of those with me, and the only thing that's ever gone wrong with it was avoidable (the harmonic balancer split 3 years ago - I probably should have replaced it at the 100,000k service)
Even at 200K+ KM's, it's still quicker than most of the clapped out UZZ30's you see around these days and keeps up just fine with modern traffic - loads of fun to drive even if it's no speedster - easy to work on, and it still looks fantastic after all these years.
Sadly it'll probably go and be replaced by a more family oriented car in the not too distant future... but it'll be one of those cars that I'll always remember.

A 1JZ only has 8.5 comp . Without boost its driveable but not recommended .
Plus the car is Rego'd as a Turbo and complied as a turbo , so you are still driving an Illegal car regardless ...
Kinda like iowning a turbo car and saying " Ive undone the intercooler pipe Sir ! " ...
It doesnt work like that bud . The Fuz can still fine you and remove your car after numerous offences . You have to remember , not all Police are Clued onto cars as to whats turbo under the bonnet and whats not . The Compliance and Rego of the car says Turbo , its Deemed as turbo .
