Hi Guys,

Need help.

Had a temp gauge installed years ago which left the dash sensor disabled for whatever reason.

Please see picture below

Red circle: Temp sender to installed guage.

Blue Circle: Is this the stock coolant sender line to the dash guage?
If i buy a TCS032, will this plug into the blue circle?
Does this dash sensor control anything in the car? Idle ect.

Thanks for the help guys!

Hi Chris as I recall it there are actually two temp senders in that area one above the other I think. I'd need to check but I'm reasonably sure one goes to the computer to tell it engine temp for mixture when cold (ie like choke) and also tells the auto when it is up to temp to engage overdrive. These are at least two functions that I know of, there will no doubt be many more.

That isn't the original sender fitted into the motor. The original sender has a clip that the yellow wire slides onto. Get a genuine sender and reconnect the yellow wire. What you want to do with the aftermarket sender/gauge is up to you. You may be able to find another point to screw it into. Perhaps another member may be able to advise you there. You may be best to take it to a competent auto elec and he should be able to sort it for in quite a short time.

Yeah mate iv got a stock Dash temp sensor, you can have it for $25 posted. you just need to remove that one in the pic and install mine. The wire you have next to it will fit.

Sorry gary could you clarify if 83420-20020 is the same as TCS032 aftermarket unit?

Is the 83420-20020 what i require to re-engage my dash temp sensor as per the picture?

Can someone please tell me what the coolant temp sensor in the bottom of the radiator is for? There are already two sensors up above the water pump,( one for the dash, one for the ECU) so why the need for the one in the bottom of the 1jz radiator?
