Well my good run has ended, the cutting/misfiring problem has returned. Car idles and starts fine.
So it's just the misfiring problem when I put my foot down and from about the 3500rpm mark when boost starts coming on, engine just starts spluttering and power dies right off, wanting to stall. Have to keep the car rolling in gear to prevent it stalling then it sorts itself out after 5 seconds and drives fine...

i had the same problem few months ago, almost the same symptoms, check your oxygen sensor, mine was suck on 14.v volts for some reason, i changed it for a used original sensor and its fine ever since, i had a universal one on the car when the problem started.

Hi Danny, fuel usage seems normal. The plugs are only 5000km old.
Hi Kevin, are you referring to the not starting and not idling issue or the misfiring at higher revs issue? The O2 sensor won't affect this misfiring problem as it only operates at idle and in closed loop.
My wideband is showing idle at 14.7-15, and running rich when accelerating ie <10 (which has always been the case as I have never had it tuned)

mine had a misfire at 2500 rev and 3500 rev and wouldn't rev pass 6000 rev, this produce a lot of black looking water stuff which means i was running too rich, check your water temperature sensor and air intake sensor as these contribute to the fuel mixture, make sure the alternator is pushing that 14v.

Hey guys having sort of the same issues, idles fine, revs perfect but as in nears rev limit before changing gear it misfires and does a small splutter, i have been told that this could be solved with iridium plugs and possibly new leads ??

I've had a couple of mine out Adrian, and I would have described them as coilovers as the coils are attached to the plugs with no leads. In my mind at least I would describe them as coilovers. Please correct me if I am wrong with my definition. However from my experience and comments from many others on here I would have thought any one of those three could contribute to the problem.

Coilovers are adjustable shock absorbers buddy. Coils are where the spark it generated and then passed to the spark plug to spark. Do you mean the blue rubber boot on the bottom of the coil pack ?

Yep, fair enough mate, I have some on my Aristo, however I have had mechanics refer to the coils mounted over the plug as "coilovers" as well. Perhaps I was mislead by their incorrect terminology. cheers

Appreciate the time and response people. A few options available which is good, and on the vvti model I only need three. The car has been off the road for a while (now my second car) i've bought a GS300 as the family car.
so I took it for a spin and found it not revving out freely. After thinking the worst I found a loose spark plug had blown the lead off the plug (vvti model has three coils and three leads). I found alot of oil in the spark plug bay
The hose between the two cam covers is hardened and probably a contributor, I have cleaned it all up and will look for the source.
