Like the title says, how many radiator hoses are ther in the soarer and where are they located. Are there any pics of the engine showing the location. Thanks alot

I hope this diagram helps you more than it helped me, it just gives me a headache. Heres my help, not sure if its what you wanted but anyway my 2 cents. <img>

There are the two main ones that go to the rad itself, then like the diagram, there are a number of lines that send it around the engine bay. The other hose that may need replacing is the heater hoses. They are on the passenger side on the firewall. You should be able to see 2 hoses going into the fire wall. There is those 2. They should be ok, and are easy to check. Same with the hose that runs from the top of your rear turbo across the top of your cam covers at the back of the engine. Another easy one to check.
The hard one, and its the one that always splits is the one that goes down the back of the head. Costs about $70 for the pipe. Pic attached:

ok, this may be bit of topic, but although the 1jz top hose looks like a 2jz top hose (even a vs commodore hose can be trimmed as well), does a 2jz bottom hose work on a soarer? (i highly doubt it though)..?

thread revival.
can anyone tell me how to get the hose marked in red off???
how do you actually take off the hose clamp thats on the engine as my hose decided it'd had enough and started leaking today when radiator was pressure tested.

I remember taking that hose off, i think it had two hose clamps one inside the other so it was really hard. It eventually came off with a lot of effort and course language.

yeah JUST managed to get it then.
the hose its self tore off at the base due to its poor condition and then had a small pair of vice grips that i had to use along with ALOT of patience to slowly walk the clip off.

Exactly the same as mine. The poor condition meant i thought the hose came off cleanly and then i went looking for the clamp.. only to find it still on the hose which hadn't just tore off..
Anyway its a ass job but just swear a lot and get it done. Patience and persistance.

Sorry to bump an old thread but yesterday morning that pipe circled in red split on me before we were supposed to drive to the parents for christmas dinner. I got the pipe off after a couple of hours of wrestling, My question is though what is my quickest option for getting the replacement hose? I needed to car for work this wednesday but I highly doubt i'll get the pipe for then. So whats my best option?

Radiator hose is also made in flexible sections. Pull the old one off, measure the internal diameter and the distance from a to b then buy another section from super cheap.

No problems Richard, just make sure it's radiator hose and not air hose as they have different tolerances. Also, it not being rigid make sure that it cannot run into anything that could damage it as it can move.

Tried Supercheap and Auto One near where I live and neither had a solution Its just Heater hose I am looking for isn't it? It measured 19mm I.D. They only had a 1/2 or 3/8 size at Supercheap, The guy said that's all he did but there website shows a 3/4. The Mackay hose online catalogue showed a universal flexible Z shaped hose for radiators too that would of measured up well Part#ZHB19 but neither shop had or seemed willing to order it. I will try Coventry's when I am back at work Wednesday and if they can't help me I'll have to try the Toyota Spare parts near my work to see if they can order the genuine in.

I found a Repco with heater hose close by
I am now a bit suspicious I might have a block somewhere though. I ran a flush (because I changed from the cheap green stuff former owner had used to Toyota) and had the car idling for 20 or so minutes had a leak from the replacement pipe but realised I forgot to tighten the top hose clamp!
Then followed the tutorial to flush the system, Left the tap to drain till there wasn't even a drip and tightened her up, But when I went to fill it with the Toyota concentrate, there was no more room for the distilled water! I filled the reservoir bottle with distilled and started the car again to see if it would pump it through. The reservoir didn't seem to change in the 5-10 minutes of running Just bubbled at times, The Temp Gauge climbed slowly to half way and just sat there. So I turned it off and noticed the reservoir bottle had almost emptied, Filled that back up, went to go inside to let it cool. Checked it again a couple of hours later when it was just about cool to touch and the radiator had dropped about a 100 ml and the reservoir tank was about half again, I am not entirely sure how much distilled water have gone in I would hazard a guess at 2.5 litres maybe 3, But shouldn't it have drained the reservoir dry straight away till it reached the capacity it needs? if that makes sense I will see if it's dropped again this morning shortly, I really hope there nothing wrong with it but it doesn't seem right ?

Don't worry too much Richard it was just an airlock and sucked the water bottle water back in when it cooled down. You'll probably find it will do it again until it has fully filled up. You can try squeezing the water hoses a few times to move the air out if you like.

Edit* Only just noticed your reply Sebastian after I posted. Cool just for a minute or so? Thanks guys for all your help, I love how knowledgeable people are on this forum!

If you've put in a total of 5 litres of fluid then you should be right. Just tap the cap off (when the car is cool) and turn it on. Let it run until it stops bubbling up, replace the cap and take it for a drive and see how it goes.
