hey, tried to search this but couldn't find what i was after.

i recently fitted a new timing belt kit (belt, pully, seals), when i was fitting it i thought it was WAY too tight...like i fitted the belt then when bolting in the tensioner, it would be too tight before pulling the pin out of the tensioner.

Are there different sized belts or tensioner pulleys for 1jz's ??? Im not 100% sure my 1j is the original 1j or if its from another car...

Put it side by side with your old belt and see if its the same.

I think the different part numbers are just superceeded parts..

From memory my 1J belt was pretty tight, and very tight once the tensioner was let go..

mine was super tight when i did the 100k service aswell but thats how tight i thought it was meant to be as you dont want it slipping a tooth on the belt

It's defiantly the same size and amount of teeth as the one that came off it, i forgot to check the old pulley was the same size as the new one. I've had the new belt fitted for a few months now, the reason im asking about the tightness is that i noticed the timing belt was tracking backwards toward the head/block and was rubbing on the metal plate behind the cam gears....so i pulled the belt off again and noticed the tensioner pulley bracket was slightly bent, so the pulley wasn't quite parallel with the cam and crank gears..

so im not sure if the bracket was already bent when i bought it or if the tightness of the belt has bent it, i have changed alot of timing belts before and never had one fit so tightly before...

thanks for the offer but i claimed another one under warranty, im thinking it must have already been bent, as there only seems to be one belt size and only 1 pulley size also..
