Hey guys,
I had a read of the previous oil leak threads to see if my problem was the same.. I have recently noticed an oil leak from the rear/middle of the engine bay, gave it a wash and seems to reappear the mechanic said to do the rocker cover gasket, which also got done, but it is still leaking from the back of the engine I have been told by the mechanic.. Anyone know what that could be? I need to get it fixed ASAP. Thanks

The mechanic still thinks it may be the rocker cover gasket.. Any chance it could be the rear main seal..

best bet would be to try see where exactly its coming from, try get a torch and mirror and see if you can see any oil residue at the back of the head and on the top of the gearbox. also could be coming from rear main and you will see it coming out the hole between the gearbox and engine. possibility also of the sump gasket. maybe if you can get some pics and post them up some people can have a lok and help out

Hi Natasha can you take a picture of it and point where you think it's coming from?

If you have cam cover leak will be oil around cam cover seal after wash re-appearing.

If it is Rear Main leak, you can see oil drip down from the bottom most of the trans bellhousing, but this may be mistaked for sump or cam cover leak that eventually makes it's way down.

The car is still at the mechanic.. I think was has happened is we changed the engine cover and didn't put a new rock cover gasket that is when we noticed the leak. So the rocked cover gasket got done and if is still leaking the timing belt cover got replaced too.. If I can manage to get a picture I will..

Check the operation of the PCV. If it is stuck closed, even with a new gasket oil could be pushed out.

Have you looked at the oil return line on the rear turbo? That's where I had a leak from.

There are half moons at the back of the rocker cover in the head, the manual says to remove, re-goo and replace them when u do the rocker cover gaskets. if the mech diddn't do that they may still be leaking. Take a pic from beside the gearbox up to the back of the engine and show us

Wow, that is not a hard job to get right. All you have to do is make sure everything is super clean, prime the new seal with some fresh oil, and seat it properly - torque all the nuts correctly, and done. I wouldn't go back there again.
