Hey
when removing the radiator cap a part of it broke off and fell into the radiator.... im hoping to be able to drain the fluid out and the bit of debris with it, problem is i cant find the "tap" to drain it. Do i have to remove the plastic splash guard bit underneath the car to get to it?

when you are standing in front of the rad the plastic drain will be on the backright hand side right down the bottom. you are better off pulling the hoses and the rad out and tipping it upside down and giving it a shake. like trying to get a coin out of a milk bottle. it will be easier to get it out from the top as thats the way it went in.

the bottom hose clamp is the problem at the moment, cant get enough leverage and there's another plastic pipe butt up against not leaving much room to move the clamp back off the radiator.
if and when i get the clamp off can they be replaced with the screw type clamps?
*edit
found the tap, dont think the bit will come out from there, will wait till tomorrow to continue. if i drain from the tap first should i expect alot more to come from the hose. also looks like i may need a new radiator these a bit of corrorsion and it was somewhat wet under there.

finally got the hose off by turning my arm into a snake and going through the engine bay. hopefully it will drain out the debris if not ill have to use the garden hose to try and flush it out.

Darren if the part that broke off is any larger that 2 or 3 mm wide it won't go down the radiator tubes anyway and will potentially block the top of the radiator. Definitely do what Adrian said, take the radiator out and see if you can shake it out the top. While you are at it may as well get a core clean as well.

i think it had some metal i think it was just the small rubber bit that seals the radiator and a bit of the shaft of the cap, i have drained it and ran the hose though it got some junk out of it, i have let it idle and drove it up and down the driveway, didn't overheat and all seems to be fine. think the computer is reset though idles horrible need to take it for a spin on the road to make sure though.
the new radiator cap sits different though old one was horizontal new one is vertical alignment, both cpc and same size.. hopefully its ok

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink boys. He has been given the advice on how to get it out so if he chooses to do it his own way and it ends up inside the the engine then he can only blame himself when his motor overheats and blows a head gasket!!

why not put the new cap in make a bung for the lower hose to take a garden hose and then flush/ float the particle out . however make sure you catch or strain what comes out of the top tank to make sure you get it.
