I have created a spreadsheet which lets you compare stock production cars (versus each other) and how they compare in a drag race against each other.

I compiled all the data for each car from MOTOR Magazine. MOTOR Magazine use a GPS Timer accurate to within 1% accuracy.
The data I compiled tells you how long a vehicle takes to accelerate from 0-10kph, 0-20kph, 0-30 kph etc etc and also tells you the 1/4 mile.

I have created a spreadsheet which converts this data to how many metres a car has travelled per second during a race. And in turn have worked out and made a drag timeslip for each car.

The times are very accurate to real life times.
Some people have stated some of the 60 foot times on these supercars look a bit slow.

There is 3 reasons for this:

Firstly, there is no rollout with these times like a drag strip.
Secondly, Tyre pressures and tyres are untouched from the manufacturer. No ET Streets or 18psi tyre pressures. Tyre pressures are all over 35psi which equates into slow take offs
Thirdly, a lot of these times are timed at race tracks which are unprepared like a sticky drag strip.

The cells which get highlighted yellow shows you which vehicle is ahead during the race.
Also on the right it shows you how much metres ahead or behind each car is against the other.

A good example is load up a SUBARU WRX STI 2011 for Vehicle A and a FPV F6 310 for Vehicle B. You get to see how the Subaru jumps ahead by a few cars and then the Ford comes backs and overtakes it.

No probs. I will update this every month when new cars are tested by MOTOR Magazine.
The Editor of MOTOR Magazine has given me free subscription for life and I also send them this data which they use to compare cars. Also I get invited to all their Performance Car of the Year Shoouts & Tuner Shootouts which is awesome.

Thanks Guys.

What I love about this spreadsheet the most is it shows you how a slower car with a super fast launch vs a faster car with a slower launch compare every second during the race.

A good example is the screenshot below you have the fastest HSV ever built the W427 7 litre LS7 vs
a Subaru WRX STI with 4WD turbo 2 litre.

What this spreadsheet shows you which is awesome is even though the HSV W427 does 0-100 kph 4.90 seconds and the Subaru WRX STI does 0-100 kph in 5.51 seconds, its not until the 7.5 second mark when the HSV eventually catches and passes the STI.

Upload

A lot of people think just because the HSV does 4.90 to 100kph and the STI does 5.51 seconds that the HSV is ahead at the 100kph mark is misleading.

In reality it takes the monster HSV 7 litre Corvette engine over 170 metres and around 7.5 seconds to catch the little STI from a standing start.

Its funny at the 7 second mark during the race the STI is around a bumper ahead of the HSV (47 centimetres ahead) then 5 seconds later at the 12 second mark the HSV is a whopping (26.52 metres ahead) over 5 car lengths ahead lol.

Manual I love you. This is the best ever. I read a few car mags and absolutely hate how all there stats only ever tell me 0-100 times. I always have to Google quarter times so I'm loving your spread sheet. Would be great to see how the older stock cars fair

I've driven a few (older) Subaru STI models and they have all felt crap until you hit at least a few thousand RPM - so how in the hell does the WRX-STI manage to pretty much beat everything over the first hundred meters? Launch control? Or is this someone just destroying the transmission so they can get off the line so fast?

You give it at least 6000rpm and just side step the clutch and pray everything holds together.
I had a friend who had a 2004 STI completely stock on stock tyres and he got a 1.77 60 foot time. They are made for brutal launches, they just grip and lunge. Its when they hit top of 2nd to 3rd gear is when they stop moving and our heavy ass soarers start putting the hurt on these cars.

I raced a friends 210AWKW 2009 STI full bolt ons. He dropped the clutch at 6500rpm and put 3 car lengths on me from 0-80kph but by 160kph I caught and past him by a few cars. They are good in the first 2 gears only. At the drags I can outlaunch them but on the street with proper street tyres no chance, they are super quick off the line.

Thirdly, a lot of these times are timed at race tracks which are unprepared like a sticky drag strip.

Here is the true raw data published in MOTOR Magazine using a GPS Racelogic VBOX very accurate which I converted to the 60ft time = 18.28 metres

Here is the raw data of a HSV W427 7.0 Litre

0-10 kph = 0.35 seconds
0-20 kph = 0.85 seconds
0-30 kph = 1.29 seconds
0-40 kph = 1.80 seconds
0-50 kph = 2.21 seconds
0-60 kph = 2.61 seconds
0-70 kph = 3.05 seconds
0-80 kph = 3.90 seconds
0-90 kph = 4.29 seconds
0-100 kph= 4.90 seconds
0-110 kph= 5.52 seconds
0-120 kph= 6.45
0-130 kph= 7.17
0-140 kph= 8.01
0-150 kph= 8.89
0-160 kph= 9.86
0-170 kph= 11.16
0-180 kph= 12.32
0-190 kph= 13.52

1/4 ET & MPH =
12.90@184.9

If you work out the maths properly to get a for example 1.60 second foot time your car needs to be able to accelerate from 0-60kph at the drag strip with the rollout (could be doing up to 5-10kph before the timer starts!) of the beam in 1.5 to 1.6 seconds.

To get a 1.80 second 60 foot your car needs to get to 0-60kph at the drag strip once again with rollout between 1.7 to 1.9 seconds.

The HSV gets to 0-60kph in 2.61 seconds with no rollout(time starts when the car moves even a cm different to a drag strip where you can pick up speed for 30cm and then the time starts.)

a 2.61 second 0-60kph time with no rollout always equals a 2.2 to 2.6 second time depending if there is wheelspin or full grip to 60kph.

The amount of wrx transfer cases I've seen let at the starting line is the reason I would never buy one. They are made for hard launches on dirt, not Tarmac.

The older models were very unreliable. The newer sits are much more reliable anything from 09 upwards are less likely to break on multiple hard launches. My cousins jap import Sti 00 has over 400awkw and still going strong. But he does have a dog box and built motor and stronger diffs.. It is a missile. It puts bus lengths on my car down the highway on a roll. All I can do is watch it pull away and laugh lol

I can never drive a awd car. Nothing beats fish tailing in a powerful rear wheel drive car. I love the control when you catch it when it steps out on u. Can't wait for this Wednesday wsid drag racing.. Might kill my crappy falkens once and for all. Come see the smoke I do in the burnout pad and down the track :-)

Old thread bump... thought I'd look this spreadsheet up since I've changed cars this year so thought I'd see how the new beast stacks up...

I think something is seriously wrong with some of the figures here... Take a look at the IS350 vs G6E-Turbo figures - I was thinking of buying a IS350 before I got the G6E turbo, so I drove a few of them... The IS350 is quick, it feels quick - but there is no way that an IS350 is anywhere near as fast as the G6E-T on the street, from a dig or otherwise - it wouldn't even be close - yet this spreadsheet shows the IS350 comfortably blowing the turbo Falcon into the weeds all the way to the 1/4.

Same deal with a NA FG falcon vs a turbo FG - again I drove a number of these earlier in the year trying to decide if I needed the turbo or not - and there is no way it would take the turbo 9 seconds to overhaul the NA model - yes, the standard Falcon is ahead for 9 seconds.

In reality driving the two cars back to back as I did, the acceleration doesn't even compare - I literally HAD to have the turbo after driving the NA because the NA felt like it was a truck off the line after the turbo.

The only way I could get my car to go that slow would be to turn traction control off and just stomp my foot on the pedal mindlessly ignoring the huge clouds of rubber and the car only barely creeping forward - or maybe if you tested one in the wet and one in the dry, or had some Yingyang ultra-hard compound tyres or something?

I wonder if these figures are so far out, how about some of the other cars?

Thoughts?
