This is a strange problem I've very very rarely have had happen to me in my 91 TT. This has only happened about four times ever. It happened three times one day in January 2012 and once about a week ago.
Anyway, I'll just be driving along as normal. When suddenly the car makes a quick shudder, the check engine light comes on, the revs on the cluster then start jumping around from 0 - 2000 back and forth. The car just dies as if I've turned it off. The accelerator pedal becomes a lot stiffer and pressing it down does nothing. This happens for less than 10 seconds then the car returns back to normal like nothing has happened.
Like I mentioned before, this has only happened on two separate dates ever and my car runs fine so it hasn't been much concern. Any ideas what this could be?
