okay so last night i was driving back home and at a set of lights i took off as normal once i reached speed i let go of the accelerator and the car continued accelerating hard!
it jumped from 70km/h up to 90km/h i tried un-sticking the gas pedal thinking it was stuck but did not help i then slammed the brakes but the car was still accelerating finally i just turned off the car and put it in neutral and let it roll to a stop started it again and it took off again no throttle applied.
has anyone got an idea of how to fix this? i would not think a iacv is the issue as the car wouldn't accelerate that hard would it?
any help is appreciated as this is my girlfriends car and wont to make it safe for her to drive again.

Are you trying to get out of a speeding fine ..
Sorry couldn't resist it, I would be looking at the throttle cable or butterfly as the culprit as you said the IAC would not do it, I presume it came good as you drove home ?? or is it still on the side of the road .. Get someone to hop into the car & give it similar throttle to what you did last night & with your head under the bonnet see what the throttle butterfly is doing, I would think there is no need to have the motor running & go from there

Return spring on throttle body will stop this happening. Mine used to do this when I had an aftermarket plenum for some reason. After the spring went on there were no more issues
