Hi All,

Trawled through and tried some of the more common fixes, but my soarer seems to hate me :-(

Problem:
Rough idle, plugs covered in carbon when pulled (running rich), misfire when driving

Tried:
Replacing coil packs
Replacing Plugs
ECU reset
MAP replaced
No vacuum leaks that i can find

I've got a new o2 sensor and Coolant temp sensor on order, just to rule those out.

No oil usage or water usage, good compression on all 6.

One thing that may be related is that i replaced the timing belt 3-4 days prior to the issue appearing, during the replacement that lower belt guide was left on as the crank pulley was pulled, bent the crank angle sensor ring a bit, but it was repaired by a mate, not sure if this could be causing the issue :-(

No codes are being generated by the ECU, it seems to think it's running fine :-( pulled the map while it was running and it registered a map failure, so think the ecu is working correctly (no blown caps that i can see).

Any ideas / suggestions will be welcomed :-)

Depends on how bad it was bent & then how well repaired but certainly possible it is the fault as the air gap between the ring & the sensor needs to be consistent & if still buckled will change, but the issues you Now have would have to be there as soon as you started it up after changing the timing belt if its the ring at fault, its not something that would come up some days later ..

no problem, was just running out of ideas and thought it could possibly be some play in the sensor ring as it separated from the crank pulley :-(

Any other ideas ?

ECU caps seem fine, pulled it and checked, no swelling or leaking

Throttle position sensor? Does it shift really late on you when cruising?

Shifts like normal, no real loss of power either, just idles like a ford and misses when not under much load, probably misses under boost too but you can't feel it :-(

could it be dirty injectors giving you grief?

also maybe try the fuel pump ECU bypass trick and see if that helps

Try another ECU.
