Hi All, My 1JZ is holding back I have had some recent issues relating to engine performance or lack there of. My boost gauge is showing I'm making plenty of boost and the external waste gate seems to be doing as it should but when trying to accelerate it lags badly and won't make power. Car makes good horsepower roughly 360atw and normally is a joy to drive so you can imagine my frustration when a Nissan Tida pulls away from me at the lights.. Not good for the ego trust me.. your thoughts PLEASE

very difficult to make boost without making power. ie if the car is running poorly, then the exhaust flow is normally well down, which will reduce boost markedly. It seems strange to me... Anyway, when you do finally log back onto our forum, let us know how you got on with this issue please.

Hi guys. Sorry haven't got back to you as soon as I had hoped as I work remotely. Just about to order all new coils and connectors and see if that helps also I'll look at the exhaust directly as I have also been given the same advise with possible blockages.. Once again I apologise on the delay getting back to you and I'll update as I progressively work through the many possible solutions. Thanks heaps everyone!!!

HKS GT3037 56T High mount turbo, Trust ECU, Custom piping, Blitz font mount intercooler. Performance is excellent normally just got to sort through these few issues and get it back to normal. Fingers crossed anyway Shane.

Gents. Well I just put a new cat and muffler on and it changed nothing... Transmission not slipping and seems to be as normal. So now it comes to changing coil packs and clips which are in transit from WA. I'll get online now and get an O2 sensor as that did come up in the diagnostics but on advise from mechanic I was told that shouldn't be an issue... Makes no sense to me either! Anyways I have my man box of tissues handy and a dwindling bank account and I shall update as i work through it. Thanks again guys your support is appreciated greatly.

You got ripped off if they changed the Cat without looking to see if its blocked as it very obvious if its no good, if your Mechanic did it go some where else as He is in it for the money only ..

I took the car to an exhaust shop and he claimed it to be blocked and rattling.
Anyway I decided to try and replace the fuel ecu and some genius had cut it out and replaced it with a relay set up. After I spent the time replacing the OEM wiring and fuel ecu the car would not run at all. It appears as though the Walbro 255LPH fuel pump I put it to replace a noisy/failing one is drawing too much current and not pumping enough volume to support the ponies. That would explain the hesitation in acceleration especially under load. So I will replace the fuel pump again with a higher volume one and see if that resolves the old girls issues. I will update when I have replaced the pump. Cheers guys.. Be very aware of performance claims from people selling these pumps as they claimed this pump to handle over 500hp clearly not the case!!!

As far as the pump goes I have found the walbro to draw a pretty high current compared to a bosch motor sport one which is what I compared it to, ( from memory the bosch one was around 7 amps current draw & the walbro was around 15 amps ) so you need to check what pump you next put in as if you put another high current draw one in you will have the same problems with lack of flow as you have now ...

OK this might be a dumb solution but is the fuel filter blocked? I've had similar problems with N/A motors ranging from petrol to diesel. It would also create higher amp on the fuel pump as its working harder ( at full pressure).

Have you looked out the back when you are accelerating, as in does it blow massive loads of black smoke especially down lowish in the rev range & if so it might be actually getting to much fuel instead of not enough ?? & if its getting Way to much it feels similar to not enough fuel ..
