For the past few days my TT has been running very flat. It feels somehow 'strangled'. When I put my foot down there's no spooling sound or push in the back. It appears my turbos are not working. However there's no smoke of any colour.

I'm trying to get a local garage to put it on a Dyno but I can't get an appointment until late next week.

Are there any tips that I can use to see whether it IS the turbos or if it's something else?

I'm also wondering if the cat's have collapsed and the engine can't breathe. I've read quite a few posts (not all of them though as there are a lot) but not found a problem the same as this.

I don't want to open the throttle too much as the engine sounds raspy almost as though there's no oil in it (obviously there is).

Advice anyone?

Turbo broken a wheel off ? Check all intercooler pipes , could be blocked cat , but would still spool .

Thanks Daniel I'll have a look at the intercooler pipes tomorrow. I have no idea how to check if the cats are blocked though. Maybe an exhaust fitter might know.

Ok I'll do just that. If the cats are buggered I suppose it's unlawful to drive without them? I mean if I had just a traditional exhaust?

OK I had a mechanic mate who's owned a few Soarers have a look and he also couldn't hear the turbos spooling. He pointed me towards an exhaust fitter who says that virtually nothing is coming out of the exhausts. He had a look underneath and it seems I have a sort of 'two into one' cat.

He's going to cut into the cat (or maybe the pipe just in front of it) on Monday to see if it's blocked. If not he'll weld the cut back up. If the cat is blocked then he can do a replacement single cat for $300 fitted. THAT I can afford.

I'll let you guys know after he's done his magic on Monday.Fingers crossed as I don't want to get my turbos replaced again.

I had a problem like this about a month ago, car ran fine but really sluggish.
A pipe had come off somewhere near the intercooler, which meant no pressure could build.
Was definitely glad it wasn't the turbos.

I was forced to drive into town this morning and I realised that there was no Soarer Growl as I came up the roads. Having had my car for 13 years I'm well used to that growl. The lack of it just convinced me even more that my cat's well blocked. I'll be glad when Monday comes and I know more.

Great news! They found my Soarer's cat was 95% blocked. IN fact they said they were amazed I'd even been able to drive the car at all. They showed me the cat and it WAS completely wrecked inside. The guts of it had broken up and been spewed all over the place inside the cat.

The put on a new cat with a metal interior (sorry I don't know the correct name for the mesh that goes inside) instead of a ceramic 'mesh' and now that familiar throaty roar is back and she's once again got bucketfuls of acceleration. It cost just $300 inc fitting and I'm delighted with the results.
