Hi everyone, I have an issue that I was hoping to get some help with.

I have a smoke issue. Before I take it to a mechanic who is going to make me spend thousands of dollars on something that is not going to work, I thought I would try probing the minds on here first.

The smoke is oil, it only smokes when it's hot and at idle. Just before the smoking issue, I changed over the turbo's and injectors. I have checked the intercooler pipes and no oil in there, so I don't think it's the turbos.

I thought that my oil was too thin, so I changed it to Penrite Racing 15-50 oil. No luck. I think it might be the PCV, I have a new Camry one with grommet that I am going to put on tonight.

I am hoping that is going to work. Can anyone help me out with idea's please, I don't think its the valve guides because it doesn't smoke from idle, and it started smoking after the turbo swap.

I got some Munro Highflows from someone on here and was assured that they were virtually brand new. I also made sure to prime the turbo's before running too. Any idea's?!

If it only started after swapping the Turbo's it certainly looks like that's the culprit, what are the turbo drains like have you still got the factory ones on or some aftermarket ones as I have seen people comment that the aftermarket ones drains are very restrictive in most cases & causes oil to build up in the drains causing the turbos to leak from the seals ..

To try & isolate the problem get it smoking heavily as per usual & let it smoke for a while & then shut it down & pull the spark plugs straight away if some look wet / oily not good ( as you said there was no oil in the intercooler pipes ) but if they look dry & clean & good colour like normal plugs I would then drop the dump pipe off & look in there as its possible the rear seal on the turbo into the exhaust housing is leaking causing the oil to get burnt from the exhaust gases..

I have never seen a factory PCV valve cause a problem on these motors & the cam covers are baffled so wont happen ..

i had a soarer that did this exact thing, despite having reconditioned turbos on it. the smoking stopped when a garrett GT35R was installed.
It appears that some turbos leak oil past the (rear)seals into the exhaust, even when they(seals) have been replaced by competent technicians.
PM me the name of the person who you obtained the highflow turbos from please, as I possibly have a suggestion for you.

Yeah ok. I will have a go at suggested isolation method on Tuesday. I really hope it's not the turbos.

Also, using the stock oil lines.

Before you remove the spark plugs make sure there is no oil build up around the outside of the spark plugs from leaking cam covers as the oil will cover the plug tip when you pull them out & so make it hard to read them accurately, you will need to blow out the oil if there is some there & or use some rags etc too to soak up the oil first ..

Could be valve stem oil seal also.
I found with the standard twins the they only become smokey on wind down (after acceleration and no boost) only if the turbo's are very bad will they smoke on idle so if there is no oil in the intercooler (minimal oil table spoon max)
I'd be looking at the stem seals I've replaced 2 sets of turbos to find out it was stem seals
