After getting a reconditioned head and replacing a head gasket on the 1JZ, I am now faced with a problem: When car comes to operating temperature, I can hear a recurring knock coming from the engine, it is cyclical so comes on for 2 sec and then disappears for 1 sec and then another 2 sec. Only happens at idle, cant hear it beyond 1000 rpm. So I used good old screw driver to listen for where its coming from and isolated it to the black metal plate behind the cam gears. Took of cam gear cover and noticed that the intake cam has a ever soo slight wobble. My first thought was maybe the bolt behind it is hitting it...well i changed the bolt but noise is exactly the same. I've even changed the main cam gear bolt but hear exactly same noise. Some similar posts say I might not have torqued the cam bearings right or I have a warped cam (not a biggy I do have a spare one, but cbf pulling everything off again,if its not needed), But my thought is, if the cam was warped or not torqued I would hear the tapping on when putting a screwdriver on to the head...but nothing, only place that makes the noise is that black metal plate....
Exactly same noise as in the video above! Checked cams, Cam gears, valve clearances (cam gear didn't actually wobble, I was imagining things...) But the noise is the loudest around the cam gear cover! It can almost be felt by hand. Any ideas? Can old timing belt tensioner cause this?

MORE UPDATES:
Issue wasn't solved I was just 100% convinced it was the tensioner. Noise is still there even with drive belt removed. My next idea was that it was the timing belt tensioner, replaced with a new one, still same noise. Idea after that was to remove the cam gear backing plate, noise is still there. BUT! Ive just learned that 1jz and 2jz Timing belt idler brackets are different and I have a feeling that the timing kit I bought (even though it specified it was for 1jz) could be for 2jz..... hence the noise of possibly timing belt being tensioned wrong

Hi Oleg,
As we live not far from each other I wouldn't mind having a listen myself, no guarantee I will know what it is, but usually I'm not to bad on identifying noises ..

-Checked the clearances -Checked timming belt tension-er bracket -Checked torque settings -Checked buckets (non seem to get stuck) -Will do hot compression test tonight (but I am almost sure it will be perfect)
I am totally out of ideas at this stage. I know it must be something around the head part as (bottom end ran fine with an old head) But the new head had a reco done very recently.
Also what is weird, trying to isolate the cylinder doesn't work... noise is present no matter what injector I disconnect.
