Hey guys, my 1jz Vvti seems to have a bit of a whine to it under boost, since I got it its always had like a whine that almost sounds like one of those whines you hear In an old manual, but that has got a little louder now and there is another whine that's appeared and is very faint but I can definetley notice something there, I haven't lost any performance and still sounds nice and strong, one other thing is on light throttle my waste gate seems to intermittently open and close when I don't change the throttle at all, all of a sudden it'll jump up and start boosting and then I hear waste gate open again and yea? Just wondering if that's another sign, any help or your thoughts would be appreciated or if any one is near the eastern suburbs in Melbourne and I could come see to just come for a drive with me and tell me what they think, thanks guys, hopefully I'm not up for a new turbo, whT would my options be also? Sorry bout the long post and heaps of questions m first turbo car and trying to get familiar with it.

What car is it ? I just recently bought a Mk2 JZX110 with a 1JZGTE VVTI & I had the same symptoms as far as your boosting goes, it would come on & off boost at light throttle, was quite surgy to Drive & it was the Drive By Wire throttle throttle position sensor at fault, all good now ..

Depends what sort of life the CT15 has had. Do you run any more boost through it? How many k's are on your car? Mine boosted okay for the year I had my stock turbo on it - but when pulled off, the oil seals had gone and there was quite a-bit of shaft play. That was with 15psi of boost.
It's a 96 soarer 1jz vvti Mine isn't too bad with surging just occasionally. And I only got the car a month ago
Boost is stock. Car has 174000 on it Greddy fmic and pod I have another or the same problem, leaking lots of oil from what I can see would be the transmission I was having a listen when I got home under the bonnet and notices some smoke coming up from the back sure enough jack it up and saw drips and drips coming from the bottom of the transmission the bottom all around where it's bolted together is a bit oily and I can't see anywhere the oil could be coming from but the transmission it has got a bit louder the whine and I have noticed it start to change it self into 4th a lot easier, has always had a tiny bit of hesitation when dropping down to 1st under no throttle say around a little corner, I'm thinking my transmission is erred and maybe not the turbo, also hearing a little sort of flutter almost like compressor surge under light acceleration but it's just a constant noise and when I haven't got enough boost for bov to go up I can hear the complete difference in that and my turbo fluttering, argh
