Anyone familiar with the Blitz K1-450V? Does anyone know what is the max boost that can be run on this turbo? I read 1.2 bar (about 18psi) but thought I saw somewhere else 1.5 bar. Anyone know. I made 245rwkw (18 psi) and want more power. About to get tuned for e85 but don't think it will get to my goal of 280rwkw unless I run more then 18psi.

these are a good quality turbo, from memory they were made for Blitz, by KKK, who built quality turbos. I haven't played with the 450V, but i have experience with the K1-380V on a gen 3 MR2 car. From my experience with E85, you will get the 280rwkw without winding the boost much. Remember Ben Lipman went from around 246rwkW to over 300 when he went E85. HOWEVER, i suggest you tune it to 1.5 bar, as the turbo can handle it (assuming the bearings are in good order), and see what you get. Remember, you don't have to run it at this boost all the time, but it's nice to know you have an extra 20-30kw available if you need it.

That's pretty good. My tuner said I'll probably gain 20rwkw so roughly 265rwkw and I thought that's not enough. Would be good if it made 280rwkw same boost. Think he was being conservative with his estimates.

Just run the extra few psi Scott. If it's any good, it'll handle it (as Blake said, if the bearings are good) It's not ceramic, so it won't kill it, all you'd do is push the turbo outside it's efficiency zone if you ran too much boost.

my tuner didn't talk to positively about E85 either, so I took the hint and went elsewhere, and got a great result. The original tuner now knows he missed out on tuning the (current) world record holder. But then again, if he was a bit negative, would we have been able to capture all the gains available? I'm not sure...

Fair enough Blake. Yeah tuner said economy will go out the window. I plan to run two maps 98 and e85. Do you run 98 still Blake? If so how often? Do you change your oil more often on e85?
Yeah James I would assume it would have to be steel wheel to handle 18psi. I suppose it starts to make more heat outside its efficiency range but running e85 makes that less of a concern.

yes i change oil more frequently. But you should also use a better oil too really. My car is dedicated E85, ideally i would want flex fuel, but i would need to go to a link G4 ECU to accomodate that. Expensive. With the power Fc, I was really just testing the water to see if the power was there with all the intake and exhaust mods we did, combined with the E85 .

yes more frequently, but you can tell by just monitoring the colour of the oil. There is some contradictory debate as to if we should use synthetic or not, and also as to the viscosity grade also. Very confusing/ contradicting discussions on forums. Best to use what the oil manufacturer recommends for E85 use.( Nulon suggest synthetic)
I want to find an oil that I can use for 5000kms with e85. I emailed Redline and they told me they recommend 10,000-15,000 mile services intervals with there oil with petrol. He went to say the oil is e85 compatible but they have no recommended service schedule for e85. I will be running duel maps on the emanage so will be also using 98 sometimes.

I just watched that tape Scott, I wouldn't be rushing out to buy that product, as for one how long did it take to separate back & too you want oil to encapsulate the foreign particles in the oil not keep them separate & it looked pretty foamy to my eyes in his quick shake test too ..
The only advantage i could see is if you drained the oil after every time you used the car & then let the oil settle you could drain off the E85 if in fact there really was any to drain off & then reuse the oil without any dilution issues, but who would do that !! to me definitely how it performs inside a engine is the critical factor not some oil change advantage ..
